Steffi Sorensen
Steffi Sorensen is a college basketball analyst and sideline reporter for SEC Network. She played for the Florida Gators women's basketball team from 2008-2010. Early life and college Growing up in Jacksonville, Florida, her dad Chris along with his brother and her uncle Robin were firefighters in Jacksonville and founded Firehouse Subs. She went to Bartram Trail High School where she was Miss Florida Basketball in her senior year in 2006 and she was the second-highest scorer in St. John's County with 2,147 points. She ended up going to Florida Gulf Coast University and was second in points averaging 14.5 points per game, leading the team to the Division II finals losing to Southern Connecticut State. Despite her successful freshman season and FGCU going to Division I, Sorensen transferred to Santa Fe Community College to be closer to family. SEC Network
The SEC Network is an American multinational sports network owned by ESPN Inc., a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company (which operates the network, through its 80% controlling ownership interest) and Hearst Communications (which holds the remaining 20% interest). 2010 WNBA Draft
The 2010 WNBA Draft is the league's annual process for determining which teams receive the rights to negotiate with players entering the league. The draft was held on April 8, 2010. The first round was shown on ESPN2 ( HD), while the second and third rounds were shown on NBA TV and ESPNU. A lottery was held on November 5, 2009. The Minnesota Lynx received the first overall selection of the draft. The Sacramento Monarchs received the number two selection. The Connecticut Sun came up with the third overall selection, followed by the Minnesota Lynx again at four, and the Chicago Sky at number five. Since the Monarchs folded after the draft lottery took place, their pick was simply eliminated. The 2009 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament commenced 21 March 2009 and concluded 7 April 2009 when the University of Connecticut Huskies defeated the Louisville Cardinals 76–54. The Florida Gators women's basketball team represents the University of Florida in the sport of basketball. The Gators compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
