Stefanos Lysandrou
Stefanos Lysandrou ( el, Στέφανος Λυσάνδρου; born 3 December 1949) is a Cypriot former footballer who played as a defender and made 20 appearances for the Cyprus national team. Club career Early years Stefanos was born in Lysi on 3 December 1949. He attended the Famagusta High School having as professor Antonis Papadopoulos. He began his career at ASIL in the season 1963-64 at the age of 13. At ASIL, he played continuously until 1971, playing a leading role in the team. Club career Lysandrou was a leading form of Anorthosis in the decades of 70s and 80s, in which he played for 13 years after having played for six years at ASIL Lysi. At the age of 35 he left the stadiums before playing again in his hometown club in order to help ASIL to stand up in the difficulties which faced. Lysi
Lysi ( gr, Λύση, tr, Akdoğan or ) is a village located in the Mesaoria plain in Cyprus, north of the city of Larnaca. It is under the ''de facto'' control of Northern Cyprus. Lysi is also the administration center for the villages of Beyarmudu, Paşaköy, Pile and Vadili. In 1960, there were 3,700 Greek Cypriots living in the village and approximately 6,000 in 1974, when they all fled because of the Turkish invasion and the subsequent partition of the island. The arrival of Turkish settlers from mainland Turkey and of Turkish Cypriots displaced from other villages in South Cyprus changed the demographics of the village. In the centre of the village there is a late 19th-century Greek Orthodox church, covered in a thick layer of Gothic decoration copied from the great medieval cathedrals of Famagusta and Nicosia. Makario Stadium
Makario Stadium ( el, Μακάρειο Στάδιο), is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium in Nicosia, Cyprus. It was the largest and main sports venue of the capital up to the construction of the GSP stadium in 1999. At present it is mostly used for football matches and is the home ground of Digenis Morphou, and Ethnikos Assia. The stadium holds 15,590 seated spectators. The playing field is surrounded by a running track and can be adapted to hold most track and field events. Apart from corporate boxes and the press centre, there are no coverings for spectators. It is built in the Nicosia suburb of Makedonitissa, close to the grounds of the Cyprus State Fair, with which it shares a large car park. The Cypriot Cup () is the main cup competition in Cypriot football, run by the Cyprus Football Association (CFA). It began in 1934, the same season with the Cypriot Championship. It is the second most important competition for Cypriot club teams after Cypriot Championship. Only the Cypriot First Division and the second division teams are participating in the competition.
