Books on Tape is a one-man electronic and rock act from Los Angeles, California. With Matt Dennebaum, he formed the duo Subverse, whose sole, self-released cassette ''Nobody Likes You'' (1998). The band split shortly afterwards as their members moved to opposite coasts: Matt went to New York City, and Todd to Los Angeles. ''Lynn Teeter Flower'' is the second album by Maria Taylor and was released on March 6, 2007. This is the 102nd release of Saddle Creek Records. The album features a guest appearance and co-write from Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst on the track "The Ballad of Sean Foley" in addition to contributions from Jim Eno of Spoon, Andy LeMaster, and Doug Easley ( Cat Power). Rolling Stone said that album "offers thoughtful, pretty singer-songwriter fare with spare, delicate backup and dashes of Seventies navel-gazing." The album's title came from a childhood song made up by Taylor. "My dad had a friend name Lynn and he had a flower shop called Lynn Teeter Flowers. ''Help Wanted Nights'' is the fourth album by the Omaha-based band The Good Life, released on September 11, 2007 on Saddle Creek Records. Currently, frontman Tim Kasher has moved to Los Angeles and has written a screenplay entitled ''Help Wanted Nights''. He has stated that the screenplay acts as a 'counterpart' to the album: I tried to have the songs be less storytelling, and less narrative...since I was writing this fictionalized counterpart to this thing, I kind of liked the idea of writing songs to xistmore as ideas that complement something else that was written. I tried to focus less on narrative and more on those big ideas. In regards to the content of the album, Kasher reveals that the new album involves: "Roughly a week in a bar in a small town where a stranger's car breaks down...so, he fraternizes with the regulars, getting too wrapped up in their sordid lives.
