Stefan Mitrović (water Polo)
Stefan Mitrović ( sr-cyr, Стефан Митровић; born 29 March 1988) is a Serbian water polo center back for Partizan. He was a member of the Serbia men's national water polo teams that won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics and gold medals in 2016 and 2020. He was pulled out of the 2008 Beijing Olympics team after suffering injuries in a motorcycle accident. He won the world title in 2009 and 2015 and the European title in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018. On 26 November Mitrović scored a goal in a 9–6 Euroleague third round win over ZF Eger in Belgrade. FINA Water Polo World League
The FINA Water Polo World League was an international water polo league organized by FINA, which plays annually, typically from winter through to June. League play featured continental tournaments for men and women, from which the top teams emerged to play in the championship tournament (the "Super Final") where the league champion team is crowned. Men's league play began in 2002, to capitalize on increased worldwide popularity of water polo created by the 2000 Olympic Games, especially in Europe, North America and Australia. The women’s league was added in 2004, based on growing interest in women's play. The 2010 Men's European Water Polo Championship was the 29th edition of the bi-annual event, organised by the Europe's governing body in aquatics, the Ligue Européenne de Natation. The 2018 Men's European Water Polo Championship was held in Barcelona, Spain from 16 to 28 July 2018. Serbia won their fourth consecutive and eighth overall title by defeating Spain in the final. Qualification Sixteen teams will be allowed to the tournament. The 2016 Men's European Water Polo Championship was held in Belgrade, Serbia. Serbia won their seventh, and third straight, title by defeating the Montenegro 10–8 in the final. The 2012 Men's European Water Polo Championship took place at the Pieter van den Hoogenband Swim Stadium in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, from 16 to 29 January 2012. Road to the 2012 Olympics The championships was part of the qualification procedure for the 2012 London Olympics that will take place in late July and early August of that year. The European Water Polo Championship is a sport competition for national water polo teams, currently held biannually and organized by the Ligue Européenne de Natation (LEN), the governing European aquatics federation. There are both men's and women's competitions. The first European Water Polo Championship was held in 1926 in Budapest, Hungary, with just a men's competition. The women for the first time competed in 1985 (Oslo, Norway) for the European title.
