Steel Hawg
Steel Hawg is an orange and black roller coaster located at Indiana Beach, Monticello, Indiana. The ride is the first ''El Loco'' model built by manufacturer S&S Worldwide (now S&S – Sansei Technologies) of Logan, Utah. The ride was installed by Ride Entertainment Group. Steel Hawg was expected to open in mid May, but was rescheduled for an early July opening. Steel Hawg opened to the public on July 5, 2008. The ride contains a 111 degree drop, two inversions, and several twists and turns. It also includes the world's first "outside" turn, meaning you bank to the left and turn right, or vice versa. Whilst it was originally planned that Steel Hawg would have a 120° drop, the design was simplified such that the drop is just 111°. The media and advertisement companies were not informed, and the original figure of 120° was used in promotional material. Alan Schilke
Alan Schilke is an engineer and roller coaster designer based in Hayden, Idaho, United States. He first made his mark on the industry by designing the 4th Dimension roller coaster, X2, while working with Arrow Dynamics. Schilke now works as a design engineer at Ride Centerline LLC and occasionally works with Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC). Career Schilke worked with Arrow Dynamics for many years working his way up to the role of head engineer. During his time at Arrow Dynamics, Schilke was credited as the designer of '' Road Runner Express'' at Six Flags Fiesta Texas and '' Tennessee Tornado'' at Dollywood. Around the same time, Schilke came up with the concept of the 4th Dimension roller coaster. This concept was criticised by his colleagues at Arrow Dynamics for being too extreme and impossible to engineer. Mumbo Jumbo is a roller coaster which opened to the public on 4 July 2009 at Flamingo Land Resort, UK. Mumbo Jumbo is situated in the Lost Kingdom section of the park and has orange supports and black tracks. The roller coaster is an El Loco model built by manufacturer S&S – Sansei Technologies; it is tall, features two inversions and a maximum G force of 4g. Records The roller coaster's maximum vertical angle is 112 degrees, making it the world's steepest roller coaster from 4 July 2009 until 16 July 2011. Vild-Svinet
Vild-Svinet (Danish for The Wild Boar) is a steel roller coaster at BonBon-Land in southern Zealand, Denmark, approximately from Copenhagen. Vild-Svinet is the prototype for the Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter roller coaster model. At 97 degrees, the coaster is the steepest roller coaster in Denmark. History and design Opening on 16 May 2003, Vild-Svinet was the first ever Euro-Fighter model coaster to be built. When it opened, Vild-Svinet was the steepest roller coaster in the world (other Euro-Fighters would later tie its record) until its record was surpassed by Steel Hawg at Indiana Beach. Typhoon is a steel roller coaster at the Bobbejaanland amusement park in Lichtaart, Belgium. Typhoon is a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter model roller coaster, and the second installation of this model line. SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge
''SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge'' is a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter roller coaster located at Nickelodeon Universe in the Mall of America, Bloomington, Minnesota. Standing 74.5 feet tall, it is the tallest roller coaster in the park. It also features a beyond vertical (97 degrees) drop. It is the first roller coaster themed to SpongeBob SquarePants, and opened with the Nickelodeon Universe grand opening on March 15, 2008. The ride features a vertical loop, and a heartline roll. Rage is a steel roller coaster situated at Adventure Island in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. Rage is a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter model roller coaster (the 6th overall to be built). Fahrenheit is a steel roller coaster at Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania, United States. Located in the Pioneer Frontier section of the park, the roller coaster was manufactured by Intamin and opened on May 24, 2008. It features six inversions and became the steepest roller coaster in the world when it opened with its first drop of 97 degrees.
