Arthur Stedman
Arthur J Stedman FRIBA (1868–1958) was a British architect in the Late-Victorian era, Victorian and Edwardian periods. He was a prominent architect in and around Farnham, Surrey where he was educated, lived and died. Biography Career Arthur's career flourished in the country house boom up to World War I, moving onto larger public works in the great expansion of municipal works projects in the interwar period. He finally retired in 1955 at the age of 87. He completed a number of fine works in West Surrey, including his own offices at ''36 South Street'' (now demolished) and the ''McDonald Almshouses'' in West Street, Farnham and some fine Edwardian country houses. He was also responsible for some fine restoration and infill projects within the historic urban fabric of Farnham, complementing the Georgian architecture, Georgian style that predominates there: His design for 49 Castle Street, Pevsner called ''a very good imitation''. John Andrew Stedman
John Andrew Stedman (1778–1833) was general in the Dutch army during the Napoleonic Wars. Biography Stedman was born at Zutphen in 1778, the son of William George Stedman (a naturalised Dutchman of Scottish descent), and a Dutch mother of noble blood. Stedman received a commission in the Dutch army when only a child. At the early age of sixteen he first saw service with the allied forces, under Frederick, Duke of York and the Prince of Orange (afterwards King William I of the Netherlands) which were employed in 1794 on the northern frontier of France. Stedman's next service was in 1799, when the Batavian Republic was in alliance with France, and the Duke of York commanded the opposing army at Bergen. At a later date he again served against the British at Walcheren. Meanwhile he had held important staff appointments, and, on the incorporation of the Netherlands with France, he became general of brigade in the French army. Stedman D. Bailey (born November 11, 1990) is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football at West Virginia. Bailey received All-American honors, and was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He retired in 2015 following life-threatening injuries he sustained from being shot in the head. Early years Bailey was born in Miramar, Florida. William Stedman (January 21, 1765 – August 31, 1831) was a U.S. Representative from Massachusetts. Stedman was born in Cambridge in the Province of Massachusetts Bay. He graduated from Harvard University in 1784. After this he studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1787 and practiced in Lancaster, Charlestown, and Worcester. He was appointed Justice of the Peace in 1790. He served as town clerk of Lancaster 1795-1800. He was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1802. He served as executive chancellor of Lancaster from 1803 to 1807. Stedman was elected as a Federalist to the Eighth Congress. He was elected from the Massachusetts' 11th Congressional district.
