Staunton Braves
The Staunton Braves are a collegiate summer baseball team in Staunton, Virginia. They play in the southern division of the Valley Baseball League. They have won the pennant in 1993–1995, 1997–2000, 2003, and 2015, ranking as high as the 7th best team in the country during the 2015 regular season. They were league champions in 1995, 1996, and 1999. The Braves consistently rank towards the top of the league in attendance and play their home games at historic John Moxie Stadium in Gypsy Hill Park. In 2016, Moxie Stadium was listed as the fifth-best Collegiate Wood Bat Park in all of America, in an article on Scout.com. The Staunton Braves have had over 40 players drafted in the MLB draft. Collegiate Summer Baseball
Collegiate summer baseball leagues are amateur baseball leagues in the United States and Canada featuring players who have attended at least one year of college and have at least one year of athletic eligibility remaining. Generally, they operate from early June to early August. In contrast to college baseball, which allow aluminum or other composite baseball bats, players in these leagues use only wooden bats, hence the common nickname of these leagues as "wood-bat leagues". Collegiate summer leagues allow college baseball players the ability to compete using professional rules and equipment, giving them experience and allowing professional scouts the opportunity to observe players under such conditions. To find a collegiate summer team, players work with their college coaches and prospective teams' general managers. Tyler Zombro
Tyler Zombro (born September 2, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Tampa Bay Rays organization. He played college baseball for George Mason University before signing with the Rays as an undrafted free agent in 2017. Zombro survived a seizure and fractured skull sustained when he was hit in the head by a line drive during a game in 2021. Career Amateur career (2013–2017) Zombro attended Robert E. Sam James Howard (born March 5, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Colorado Rockies and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Amateur career Howard attended Cartersville High School in Cartersville, Georgia. Max Walter Povse (born August 23, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Seattle Mariners. Background Povse was born in Cary, North Carolina. He attended Green Hope High School in Cary. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2015, and has also played for the New York Mets in MLB and the LG Twins of the KBO League. Joseph Stephen Koshansky (born May 26, 1982) is a former Major League Baseball first baseman. Early life Koshansky graduated from Chantilly High School in Chantilly, Virginia, in 2000. He played baseball as a pitcher and first baseman. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in economics. Professional career Koshansky was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 6th round (170th overall) in the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft. 2004 After getting drafted, Koshansky played for the Class A Tri-City Dust Devils. Mike Maroth
Michael Warren Maroth (born August 17, 1977) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) starting pitcher and current pitching coach for the UCF Knights. Born in Orlando, Florida, and after attending the University of Central Florida, the left-handed Maroth made his Major League debut in 2002 for the Detroit Tigers. Matthew Jacob Fox (born December 4, 1982) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox. Career Fox was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 6th round of the 2001 Major League Baseball Draft, but he did not sign.
