Stere Gulea
Stere Gulea (born 2 August 1943) is a Romanian film director and screenwriter. He was born in Mihail Kogălniceanu commune, Constanța County, in an Aromanian family that had fled from the Kaliakra region of Southern Dobruja during the 1940 population exchange between Bulgaria and Romania. After attending high school Constanța, Gulea studied philology at the Pedagogical Institute of Constanța and then pursued his studies at the I.L. Caragiale Institute of Theatre and Film Arts (IATC) in Bucharest, graduating in 1970. He made his film director debut that year with ' ("The Water Like a Black Buffalo"); this documentary movie, done in collaboration with his IATC colleagues, Dan Pița and Mircea Veroiu, record the catastrophic 1970 floods in Romania. Luminița Gheorghiu
Luminița Gheorghiu (; 1 September 1949 – 4 July 2021) was a Romanian film actress, and artistic performer in East Central Europe. She achieved international recognition for her roles in '' The Death of Mr. Lazarescu'' (2006) and '' Child's Pose'' (2013). Gheorghiu's roles were mostly in Romanian and French, including that in ''Code Unknown'' with Juliette Binoche. Gheorghiu was a 1972 graduate of the Institute of Theatrical and Cinematographic Arts in Bucharest, where she studied under professor Ion Cojar. She made her debut in 1971, at the Casandra Theatre, and then played at theaters in Botoșani and Piatra Neamț. From 1976 to 2003, she played at the Bulandra Theatre in Bucharest. Gheorghiu died on 4 July 2021, at the age of 71. This is a list of submissions to the 69th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country. For the 69th Academy Awards, thirty-nine films were submitted in the category Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The submission deadline was set on November 1, 1996. Silviu Stănculescu (; 24 January 1932 – 23 October 1998) was a Romanian actor. He appeared in more than forty films from 1960 to 1998. Born in TimiÈ™oara, he graduated in 1956 from the I.L. Caragiale Institute of Theatre and Film Arts (IATC) in Bucharest. He married Corina Stănescu, with whom he had a daughter, Catrinel Stănescu Florea. Stănculescu died of leukemia at Victor BabeÈ™ Hospital in Bucharest, at age 66.
