State Highway 120 (Texas)
State Highway 24 (SH 24) runs from Campbell to Paris in north Texas. It is a portion of the main route, along with Interstate 30, from Paris to the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. History On June 21, 1917, SH 24 was designated from Denton to Whitesboro. The historic routing of SH 24 was one of the 25 original Texas state highways. On August 21, 1923, the routing had changed substantially. The original Denton to Whitesboro route was removed from the state highway system (it was later SH 10). A portion of the former SH 28 from Jacksboro to Benjamin was reassigned as SH 24. A portion of SH 22 from Graham to Olney that was concurrent with SH 28, was also signed as SH 24, and was not concurrent with another state highway as there were two state routes that replaced part of SH 22 north and south of SH 24. Guthrie is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in, and the county seat of, King County in the U.S. state of Texas. It is in the northern part of the state, east of Lubbock. It serves as the principal headquarters of the Four Sixes Ranch. As of the 2010 census, its population was 160. History Guthrie's recorded history begins in 1883, when the Louisville Land and Cattle Company in Louisville, Kentucky, purchased several hundred acres in what later became King County. Texas State Highway 290
State Highway 290 (SH 290) is a state highway maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) that runs from Interstate 10 near Sheffield east to another connection with I-10 about east of Sheffield. The route was designated in 1992 as a replacement for U.S. Route 290 when that route was shortened to end near Junction. The route connects I-10 to Sheffield and Fort Lancaster State Historic Site and overlays a portion of SH 349. SH 290 was the former designation for a portion of SH 114 between the New Mexico state line and Lubbock. State Highway 114 (SH 114) is a state highway that runs from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex westward across Texas to the state border with New Mexico, where it becomes New Mexico State Road 114, which eventually ends at Elida, New Mexico at US 70 / NM 330. History The route was originally designated on April 14, 1926 as connector between Dallas and Rhome. In June 1932, SH 114 was extended to Bridgeport. On February 12, 1935, an extension northward from Chico to Sunset was added. On July 15, 1935, the section from Chico to Sunset was cancelled. This section was restored on August 1, 1938. State Highway 251 (SH 251) is a Texas state highway running between Olney and Newcastle. The route was designated on June 22, 1937 from Newcastle south to Old Fort Belknap, and was extended northward to Olney mainly along its current route on September 26, 1939 when SH 24 was rerouted. The section from Newcastle to the fort was removed on February 23, 1993 and transferred to FM 61. Klondike is an unincorporated community in Delta County, Texas, United States. It lies in the southwestern corner of the county at the junction of Farm to Market Roads 1528 and 2890, three miles southwest of Cooper. As of the 2000 Census, its population was estimated at 135. History Klondike's documented history began in 1852, when local landowner John Hunt donated a parcel of land for a cemetery for the community, which was then known as Pleasant Grove. By the early 1860s, a school had begun serving the area's pupils, sharing a building with a small Methodist congregation. State Highway 39 (SH 39) is a state highway that runs primarily through the Texas Hill Country primarily in Kerr County. History On January 23, 1918, an intercounty highway was designated from Greenville to Decatur. On February 19, 1918, another intercounty highway from Pecos via Tahoka to Jayton was designated. On August 19, 1918, the Greenville-Decatur intercounty highway was extended to Cooper.
