Starvation Blues
''Starvation Blues'' is a 1925 silent short subject comedy film. It stars Syd Crossley and Clyde Cook (actor), Clyde Cook as street musicians struggling to eke out a living in the cold. Stan Laurel, one of the writers for the picture, would go on to exploit a similar premise in his 1930 film ''Below Zero (1930 film), Below Zero'' with Oliver Hardy. Richard Wallace (director)
Richard Wallace (August 26, 1894 – November 3, 1951) was an American film director. He began working in the editing department at Mack Sennett Studios in the early 1920s. He later moved on to rival Hal Roach Studios where he began directing two-reel films, on some of which he collaborated with Stan Laurel. In 1926, Wallace began directing feature-length films. Several of Wallace's memorable films include three Shirley Temple films, '' A Night to Remember'' (1943) with Loretta Young, and '' The Little Minister'' (1934) with Katharine Hepburn. He was a founding member of the Directors Guild of America. He died of a heart attack. Cesare Gravina
Cesare Gravina (23 January 1858 – 16 September 1954) was an Italian actor of the silent era who appeared in more than 70 films between 1911 and 1929. Born in Naples, Gravina was an orchestra conductor in his native Italy. As the conductor at La Scala, among the noted vocalists he worked with were Mary Garden and Enrico Caruso. At some point he left music to become a character actor, sharing his reasons for the career change with no one. As the owner of many theaters in South America, Gravina was financially secure enough to retire from motion pictures by 1924, but he preferred to remain in acting. Tiny Sandford
Stanley J. "Tiny" Sandford (February 26, 1894October 29, 1961) was an American actor who is best remembered for his roles in Laurel and Hardy and Charlie Chaplin films. His tall, burly physique usually led him to be cast as a comic heavy, and often played policemen, doormen, prizefighters, or bullies. Biography Sandford was born in Osage, Iowa, in 1894. After working in stock theater he began acting in movies around 1910. He appeared in ''The Gold Rush'' with Charlie Chaplin. Other Chaplin films that he appeared in include '' The Circus'' (1928) and '' Modern Times'' (1936), where he plays "Big Bill". His films with Laurel and Hardy include ''Big Business'' (1929), ''Double Whoopee'' (1929), '' The Chimp'' (1932), and ''Our Relations'' (1936). Frederick Alvin Kelsey (August 20, 1884 – September 2, 1961) was an American actor, film director, and screenwriter. Kelsey directed one- and two-reel films for Universal Film Manufacturing Company. He appeared in more than 400 films between 1911 and 1958, often playing policemen or detectives. He also directed 37 films between 1914 and 1920. Kelsey was caricatured as the detective in the 1943 MGM cartoon '' Who Killed Who?'' directed by Tex Avery.
