Shiner is an American post-hardcore/alternative rock band from Kansas City, Missouri that was active from 1992 to 2003. Since 2012 Shiner has been playing several shows a year. The band's new record ''Schadenfreude'' was released May 8, 2020, with touring to follow that was since cancelled due to COVID-19. Math rock is a style of progressive and indie rock with roots in bands such as King Crimson and Rush as well as 20th-century minimal music composers such as Steve Reich. The album was recorded at the Chicago Recording Company in the summer of 1996 and mixed in Kansas City by the band and Ken Waagner.
