Starcom Network
{{Use dmy dates, date=February 2022 Starcom Network began its life as Radio Distribution (Barbados) Limited, with the introduction of the first broadcast station then located at Wildey, St. Michael in 1935. At that time, the company transmitted its broadcast signal using a cable network system, known as subscription radio. As the only radio station in Barbados until the first wireless radio station 900 AM was started in 1963, subscribers used to pay for the radio on a monthly bases. The service (basically a large PA system) later renamed Barbados Rediffusion was broadcast via cable to wall-mounted textured wood finished receivers. Each device was connected to wires via telephone poles all the way back to the studio. The premier presenters were the incomparable Alfred Pragnell (now the late Alfred Pragnell), the incomparable Olga Lopes-Seale (now the late Olga Lopes-Seale), Maurice Norville and David Ellis. Rediffusion Barbados
Rediffusion was a business that distributed radio and TV signals through wired relay networks. The business gave rise to a number of other companies, including Associated-Rediffusion, later known as Rediffusion London, the first ITV (commercial television) franchisee to go on air in the UK. Rediffusion also spawned a record label, Rediffusion International Music, in 1968 (which was also responsible for the short-lived Koala label). Redifon was the name used, until 1981, for companies in the capital goods businesses of Rediffusion, namely Redifon Computers, Redifon Flight Simulation and Redifon Telecommunications. Wildey, Saint Michael, Barbados
The Wildey area of the Parish of Saint Michael, Barbados, Saint Michael located roughly 4 km east of Bridgetown, it lies on the border with the Parish of Christ Church, Barbados, Christ Church. Normally a very busy area with the ABC Highway, Barbados, ABC Highway, Wildey is one of the main convergence points for vehicles travelling either towards the capital-city Bridgetown or towards points in northern Barbados. In recent years the area was reconfigured for traffic mitigation, the tri-directional split or fork in the highway formerly known as the "Wildey Y" was changed to only allow southbound traffic to turn left or right on to Wildey Road only. Northbound traffic must now travel on Wildey Road to Highway R road which brings traffic back to BET hill. Saint Michael, Barbados
The parish of St. Michael is one of eleven parishes of Barbados. It has a land area of and is found at the southwest portion of the island. Saint Michael has survived by name as one of the original six parishes created in 1629 by Governor Sir William Tufton. The parish is home to Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados. Bridgetown is the centre of commercial activity in Barbados, as well as a central hub for the public transport network. Other major infrastructure in St. Michael is the international seaport of Barbados—the Deep Water Harbour. Barbados

Voice Of Barbados
Voice of Barbados (VOB) was introduced in 1981 as Barbados' second radio station. Originally located at 790 AM, the station was meant to complement the Redifussion service. In the late 1990s Voice of Barbados (VOB) changed to the FM dial, with 790 AM changing format from general to gospel. 790 AM was abandoned when the gospel format was moved to 97.5 FM. Voice of Barbados is now part of the Starcom Network of stations. After One Caribbean Media was unsuccessful at obtaining a fifth radio license in Barbados after already having stations at 92.9, 95.3, 97.5 and 104.1, the company sought to find a way to vacate an existing frequency for the Caribbean Super Station. A decision was made that Gospel FM's frequency at 97.5 was the spectrum to be utilized for that new station and moves were undertaken to find a suitable station which Gospel FM could be merged with.
