''Star Trek vs. Transformers'' is a five-issue comic book limited series published by IDW Publishing. It is a crossover between the ''Star Trek'' and Transformers franchises, using the characters and art styles from the 1973 cartoon '' Star Trek: The Animated Series'' and the 1984 cartoon ''Transformers'' The first issue was released in September 2018. The comic was issued as a five part mini-series and has met with favorable reviews for mixing the two science fiction universes. In particular, they praised artist Philip Murphy artistic style with character's which were compared to cel animation. The comics are written by John Barber and Mike Johnson with art by Philip Murphy and Leonardo Ito as the colorist. The Transformers characters were developed for an American market after Hasbro representatives visited the 1983 Tokyo Toy Show. This is a list of comics regarding the ''Star Trek'' media franchise. Publishers Timeline Gold Key Gold Key Comics published the first ''Star Trek'' comics between 1967 and 1979. These were stylized and diverged from the TV series continuity. In most issues, the crew members, except for Spock, wear lime green uniforms. Most plots in the Gold Key series featured original characters and concepts, but later issues included sequels to the original series episodes "The City on the Edge of Forever", "Metamorphosis", and "I, Mudd". Writers included George Kashdan, Arnold Drake and Len Wein. Originally they were illustrated by Alberto Giolitti, an Italian artist who had never seen the series and only had publicity photos to use as references.
