Embratel Star One is a Brazilian communication satellite company. It is a subsidiary of Embratel. History Embratel Star One was created in December 2000, as an arm of Embratel in the area of operation and administration of satellites. Satellite fleet Embratel Star One own a small fleet of satellites. * Star One C1 was launched atop an Ariane 5 ECA rocket at 22:06 UTC on 14 November 2007. This launch had previously been delayed from 9 November 2007 due to a problem with the launch vehicle, and then from 12 November 2007 due to a problem with the launch pad. Star One C1 was built by Alcatel Alenia Space based on a Spacebus 3000 B3 satellite bus. Ku Band
The Ku band () is the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum in the microwave range of frequencies from 12 to 18 gigahertz (GHz). The symbol is short for "K-under" (originally german: Kurz-unten), because it is the lower part of the original NATO K band, which was split into three bands (Ku, K, and Ka) because of the presence of the atmospheric water vapor resonance peak at 22.24 GHz, (1.35 cm) which made the center unusable for long range transmission. In radar applications, it ranges from 12 to 18 GHz according to the formal definition of radar frequency band nomenclature in IEEE Standard 521–2002. Star One B4
Star One B4, originally designated Brasilsat B4, is a Brazilian communications satellite which is operated by Star One. It was constructed by the Hughes Space and Communications Company, and is based on the HS-376W satellite bus. It was the penultimate HS-376, and final HS-376W to be launched. Its launch was contracted by Arianespace, using an Ariane 4 44LP-3 carrier rocket. The launch occurred at 23:16 GMT on 17 August 2000, from the ELA-2 launch pad at the Guiana Space Centre. The Nilesat 102 satellite was launched on the same rocket. It was originally built and launched as Brasilsat B4 for Embratel, and was later transferred to Embratel's subsidiary Star One and renamed. Brasilsat B2 is a Brazilian communications satellite launched on 28 March 1995, at 23:14:19 UTC, by an Ariane 44LP H10+ launch vehicle at Kourou in French Guiana. History The Boeing Company contracted the acquisition of three satellites from Hughes Electronics Corporation. As part of the contract, Hughes would divide the work with Promon Engenharia SA of São Paulo. Brasilsat A2 was a Brazilian geostationary communication satellite belonging to the Brasilsat family. It was built by Spar Aerospace in partnership with Hughes. For most of its useful life it was located in the orbital position of 70 degrees west longitude and was operated by Star One, a subsidiary company of Embratel. Brasilsat A1 was a Brazilian communications satellite which was operated by Embratel. It was constructed by the Spar Aerospace, and is based on the HS-376 satellite bus.
