Star 1466
The Star 1466 is a tri-axle (6x6) truck in service with the Polish Armed Forces. Produced by Star Trucks (later MAN Star Trucks & Buses), the truck was designed as a replacement for the Star 266, which was phased out of production in 2000. The truck was produced between 2001 and 2006, after which it was succeeded by the Star 1444. The truck, first shown in 1999, utilized MAN components, like crew cab and engine. The same year MAN became na owner of Star Trucks. As a result of MAN policy to gather truck construction in Steyr works, in 2006 it was decided to stop truck manufacturing in Starachowice and this put an end to Polish-designed Star 1466. Fabryka Samochodów Ciężarowych "Star" (FSC Star), also known simply as Star, was a Polish truck manufacturer. The name comes from the City of Starachowice, where the factory is located. Their first vehicle was the ''Star 20'' in 1948. The most popular product was the ''Star 266''. The 266 model offered very good quality and powerful engines for a low price. It was sold in various countries for many years (not only in the Eastern Bloc; for example it was used by the Military of Yemen#Army, Yemen Army). For many years FSC Star was a state-owned company. Starachowice
Starachowice is a city in southeastern Poland (historic Lesser Poland), with 49,513 inhabitants (31.12.2017). Starachowice is situated in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship (since 1999); it was formerly in the Kielce Voivodeship (1975–1998). It is the capital of Starachowice County. It is situated upon the River Kamienna, a tributary of the Vistula River, among hills and forests. Star 266
The Star 266 is a Polish 6x6 truck designed for transport of cargo and personnel. Created by Starachowice-based FSC Star, it was the basic transport truck used by the Polish Army, it was also available to civilian market. A successor to a highly successful Star 660 series of trucks, the Star 266 shared many components with earlier models, including Star 200 and Star 244 multi-purpose medium-capacity trucks. The truck could transport up to 3500 kilograms (7716 lbs) cross-country and up to 5000 kg (11023 lbs) on paved roads, it could also tow trailers of up to 4000 kg (8818 lbs). As a truck designed primarily with military service in mind, it can ford rivers and mud of between 120 and 180 centimetres of depth.
