Stanmore Tube Station
Stanmore is a London Underground station in Stanmore. It is the northern terminus of the Jubilee line and the next station towards south is Canons Park. The station is on the south side of London Road, part of the A410 and is in Travelcard Zone 5. History Stanmore station was opened on 10 December 1932 by the Metropolitan Railway (now the Metropolitan line). The station building and those on the branch were designed by the Metropolitan Railway's architect, Charles W. Clark, in the suburban style used on the company's other post First World War stations such as those on the Watford branch. The introduction of fast, direct trains into London attracted commuters to the Metropolitan Railway and presented competition for the London, Midland and Scottish Railway, who operated a rival train service from Stanmore Village railway station approximately away. The London Passenger Transport Board was the organisation responsible for local public transport in London and its environs from 1933 to 1948. In common with all London transport authorities from 1933 to 2000, the public name and brand was London Transport. The bill had been introduced by Herbert Morrison, who was Transport Minister in the Labour Government until 1931. Night Tube
The Night Tube and London Overground Night Service, often referred to simply as Night Tube, is a service pattern on the London Underground ("Tube") and London Overground systems which provides through-the-night services on Friday and Saturday nights on the Central, Jubilee, Northern, Piccadilly, and Victoria lines, and a short section of the London Overground's East London line. The Bakerloo line () is a London Underground line that goes from in suburban north-west London to in south London, via the West End. The New Works Programme of 1935–1940 was the major investment programme delivered by the London Passenger Transport Board (LPTB), commonly known as London Transport, which had been created in 1933 to coordinate underground train, tram, trolleybus and bus services in the capital and the surrounding areas. Elstree & Borehamwood railway station is a railway station in the town of Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, England. Aldenham Works
The Aldenham Works, or Aldenham Bus Overhaul Works, was the main Buses in London, London Transport bus overhaul works. It was located on the edge of the Hertfordshire village of Elstree and not in Aldenham. In its heyday, 50 buses a week were overhauled there, and it was the most comprehensive bus overhaul operation in the world. It opened in 1956 and closed in November 1986. The buildings were demolished in 1996. Bushey Heath Tube Station
Bushey Heath was a proposed, but unbuilt, London Underground station in Bushey Heath, Hertfordshire. The planned location of the station was at the junction of the A41 and A411 roads. History Planning and construction The station was the last of three planned by London Passenger Transport Board (LPTB) in 1935 for an extension of the Northern line from Edgware. It would have served as the new terminus of the line. There was debate about the name for the station, with ''West Elstree'', ''Caldecote Hill'', ''South Aldenham'', ''Aldenham'', ''Bushey Heath and Aldenham'' and ''Bushey and Aldenham'' being proposed.
