Stanley Tepend
Stanley Tepend (born 15 May 1973) is a Papua New Guinean professional rugby league coach who is the head coach of the PNG Hunters in the Hostplus Cup and national coach of the Papua New Guinea Kumuls. Playing career Tepend played for the Enga Mioks in the PNG SP Inter-city cup national competition. The Enga Mioks won the 2000 Digicel cup with Tepend starting at hooker in the win. Coaching career Some of Tepend's earliest coaching roles were as an assistant for the PNG national side at the 2017 World Cup and a six time premiership winner as the foundation head coach of the Lae Snax Tigers in the PNG NRL Competition. He is currently an assistant coach with the PNG Hunters in the Queensland Hostplus Cup. In 2022 Tepend was appointed head coach of the 13-aside Papua New Guinea national rugby league team after Michael Marum left to pursue a career in politics. Stanley Gene
Stanley Gene (born 11 May 1974) is a Papua New Guinean former rugby league Kumul (#166) player and professional Assistant Coach (Defence) of the Hull Kingston Rovers. He previously coached Gateshead Thunder and the academy team at Hull Kingston Rovers and served as the Papua New Guinea Kumuls head coach in 2010. Having moved to England following an impressive showing for PNG in the 1995 Rugby League World Cup, Gene enjoyed a long career in the British game with spells at Hull Kingston Rovers, Huddersfield Giants, Bradford Bulls, Hull F.C. and Halifax. Gene was a versatile player with the ability to cover virtually any position on the pitch, though he spent most of his test career playing at stand off (off-half). Adrian Lam (born 25 August 1970) is a Papua New Guinean professional rugby league coach who is the head coach of the Super League Club Leigh Leopards (was Leigh Centurions), and a former rugby league footballer. He played for the Sydney Roosters in the National Rugby League and the Wigan Warriors in the Super League. He represented , Queensland State of Origin team and the Rest of the World team. John Pius Wagambie is Papua New Guinea Kumul (#14) and coached the Papua New Guinea Kumuls in the 1980s. Wagambie came to prominence in May 1977 when he captained Papua New Guinea in a historic 37–6 win against France. A few weeks later, he had initially declared himself unavailable for the upcoming 1977 Pacific Cup The 1977 Pacific Cup was the second edition of the Pacific Cup, a rugby league tournament held between Pacific teams. The tournament was hosted by New Zealand and eventually won by the New Zealand Māori side, who defeated Western Australia 35-12 ..., as he was training to become a police officer, but was later selected after being granted leave by the police commissioner to play in the tournament. The Papua New Guinea national rugby league team represents Papua New Guinea in the sport of rugby league football. In Papua New Guinea, Rugby League is a highly popular sport and is regarded as the country's national sport. The national side are known as the Kumuls ("birds-of-paradise" in Tok Pisin).
