He finished eighth in the 4 x 400 metres relay at the 1993 World Championships, with teammates Tsvetoslav Stankulov, Kiril Raykov, and Anton Ivanov. His personal best time is 20.67 seconds, achieved in June 1993 in Sofia. 200 Metres
The 200 metres, or 200-meter dash, is a sprint running event. On an outdoor 400 metre racetrack, the race begins on the curve and ends on the home straight, so a combination of techniques is needed to successfully run the race. A slightly shorter race, called the '' stadion'' and run on a straight track, was the first recorded event at the ancient Olympic Games. The 200 m places more emphasis on speed endurance than shorter sprint distances as athletes predominantly rely on anaerobic energy system during the 200 m sprint. Similarly to other sprint distances, the 200 m begins from the starting blocks. When the sprinters adopt the 'set' position in the blocks they are able to adopt a more efficient starting posture and isometrically preload their muscles. This enables them to stride forwards more powerfully when the race begins and start faster. 1993 World Championships In Athletics
The 4th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations, were held in the Neckarstadium, Stuttgart, Germany between 13 and 22 August with the participation of 187 nations. Nikolay Antonov ( bg, Николай Антонов, born 17 August 1968 in Razgrad) is a retired Bulgarian athlete. He started as a 200 metres sprinter, and won the 1991 World Indoor Championships and 1992 European Athletics Indoor Championships. In 1993 he switched to long jump. His personal best time was 20.20 seconds, achieved at the 1991 World Championships earned him the title "the fastest white man on the planet". It is also the Bulgarian record. Antonov defeated Carl Lewis in the 200 metres in March 1992 at an indoor meet in San Sebastian, Spain. He was timed in 20.51, Lewis in 20.75. Daniela Georgieva ( bg, Даниела Георгиева, née Spasova - ; born 1969) is a retired Bulgarian sprinter. She won a bronze medal at the 1995 IAAF World Indoor Championships, and holds the Bulgarian record over 400 metres indoor (51.74 s) and the former national record outdoor (50.25 seconds). She also represented Bulgaria by running in the 400 metres at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and is a three-time European Cup Champion. She is currently on the coaching staff of the Missouri Tigers athletics team, at the University of Missouri, in Columbia, Missouri.
