Stand By Me (film)
''Stand by Me'' is a 1986 American coming-of-age drama film directed by Rob Reiner. It is based on Stephen King's 1982 novella '' The Body'', and the title derives from the song by Ben E. King. Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, and Jerry O'Connell star as four boys who, in 1959, go on a hike to find the dead body of a missing boy. ''Stand by Me'' was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and for two Golden Globe Awards: one for Best Drama Motion Picture and one for Best Director. Plot Writer Gordie Lachance reads a newspaper article about a fatal stabbing. As a youth, his parents were too busy grieving the loss of his older brother Denny to give 12-year-old Gordie much attention. He recalls a childhood incident when he, his best friend, Chris Chambers, and two other friends, Teddy Duchamp and Vern Tessio, journeyed to find the body of a missing boy near the town of Castle Rock, Oregon, during Labor Day weekend in September 1959. While looking ...

The Kingdom Choir
The Kingdom Choir is a British gospel choir based in London. It was founded by choir conductor and workshop leader Karen Gibson. After performing for more than 20 years, the choir became world-famous after being invited to perform at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. On 19 May 2018, they sang a gospel version of " Stand by Me" by Ben E. King. The conductor, Gibson, was described by the British press as "Britain's godmother of gospel". Their performance of the song topped the U.S. Hot Gospel Songs chart. After the performance, the choir signed a record deal with Sony Music. On 26 October 2018, the choir released its debut album, ''Stand by Me'', subtitled 15 Songs of Love and Inspiration. It contains 14 cover performances and one original piece called "Chases". The choir was selected to perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" before the first game of the 2019 MLB London Series in June 2019. In February 2023, they accompanied Marco Mengoni in his cover of "Let It Be", du ...

Train In Vain
"Train in Vain" is a song by the British punk rock band the Clash. It was released as the third and final single from their third studio album, ''London Calling'' (1979). The song was not originally listed on the album's track listing, appearing as a hidden track at the end of the album. This was because the track was added to the record at the last minute, when the sleeve was already in production. Some editions include the song in the track listing. It was the first Clash song to reach the United States Top 30 charts and in 2010, the song was ranked number 298 on ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In the US, the song's title is expanded to "Train in Vain (Stand by Me)", as the words "stand by me" dominate the chorus. It was titled "Train in Vain" in part to avoid confusion with Ben E. King's signature song " Stand by Me". Origins "Train in Vain" was added after the deal for the band to write a song for an ''NME'' flexi disc fell through ...

Stand By Me (Charles Albert Tindley Song)
"Stand by Me" should not be confused with "Stand by Me Father", by Sam Cooke and J. W. Alexander. Though sometimes known as "Stand by Me Father", "Stand by Me" is a 1905 gospel song by the Rev. Charles Albert Tindley. Although often thought to be a "traditional spiritual", Tindley copyrighted the song in 1905. The song of the same name by Ben E. King draws on Tindley's song. The song has been sung in Tindley's original gospel form by various artists including Bob Dylan. Lyrics When the storms of life are raging, stand by me. When the storms of life are raging, stand by me. When the world is tossing me, like a ship upon the sea, thou who rulest wind and water, stand by me. In the midst of tribulation, stand by me. In the midst of tribulation, stand by me. When the hosts of hell assail, and my strength begins to fail, thou who never lost a battle, stand by me. In the midst of faults and failures, stand by me.
