Stancioff House
The Landon House, also known as the Stancioff House, is a historic home located at Urbana, Frederick County, Maryland, United States. It was built about 1849 and is a large three-story frame house with a notable clerestory roof, and two-story full length galleried porch. The home's interior woodwork is of a simple Greek Revival style. The former smokehouse has been converted to a chapel. The house is said to have originally stood on the Rappahannock River near Fredericksburg, Virginia, and moved to its present location in 1846 at the direction of the Reverend R.H. Phillips. It has been used as both a school and private home. Reverend Phillips established a Female Seminary here between 1846 and 1850, then become a military institute for boys, and by the end of the 1850s it apparently had resumed its role as a Female Seminary. Urbana ( ) is a suburban census-designated place located in Frederick County, Maryland, United States. It lies at the I-270/ MD 80 interchange, approximately southeast of Frederick and about northwest of Washington, D.C. Dimitar Stanchov
Dimitar Yanev Stanchov, sometimes transliterated as Dimitri Stancioff ( bg, Димитър Янев Станчов) (21 May 1863, in Svishtov – 23 March 1940, in Sofia), was a Bulgarian diplomat and politician who briefly served as Prime Minister. Early life Stanchov came from a leading family of Bulgarian merchants who had lived for three generations in Svishtov, although they had originated in Berat. The third of four children, his family was rich but non-aristocratic and were closely associated with support for Bulgaria as an independent state rather than a vassal of the Ottoman Empire. Stanchov was educated at the Theresianum in Vienna and following his graduation entered the diplomatic service rather than the career in business that had initially been envisaged for him. Ivan Dimitrov Stancioff (December 17, 1897 – July 28, 1972) was a Bulgarian diplomat. Ivan Stancioff was born to Bulgarian diplomat and politician Dimitar Stanchov and French/Bulgarian countess Anna de Grenaud, Anne de Grenaud, Ivan was the fourth of five children from his parents. Life Stancioff's life began in Saint Petersburg, Russia, where his father, Dimitar, had been appointed diplomatic agent of Bulgaria to the Court of Nicholas II of Russia, Tsar Nicholas II. After spending most of his youth accompanying his father at his different diplomatic posts in Russia (until 1907) and then in France (1908–1915), Stancioff received his first mission from Hristo Lukov, Major Hristo Lukov as translator to the local Bulgarian troups and the recently arrived Anglo-French troops (October 6, 1918) within Bulgaria.
