Stan Jones (English Footballer)
Stan Jones (born 16 November 1938) is an English former football defender. After starting in non-league football with Kidderminster Harriers, he played in the Football League for Walsall (two spells) and West Bromwich Albion. Jones played youth football for Staffordshire where he was spotted by Kidderminster Harriers.Tony Matthews, ''West Bromwich Albion: The Complete Record'', Breedon Books, 2007, p. 122 After making his name at the club he was briefly associated with Wolverhampton Wanderers as an amateur before signing for Walsall in 1956. A tall, burly defender noted for his strong tackling and aerial ability, Jones attracted the attention of West Bromwich Albion and moved to the Hawthorns in May 1960 for a fee of £7,000, having been central to Walsall's Fourth Division title success in the 1959-60 season. Highley
Highley is a large village in Shropshire, England, on the west bank of the River Severn and 7 miles south east of Bridgnorth. The closest cities being Wolverhampton and Birmingham. History Highley began as a rural farming community, including an entry in the Domesday Book, later becoming a significant area for stone quarrying which provided some of the stone for Worcester Cathedral. Coal mining began in the area in the Middle Ages, but in the late 19th century the village was revolutionised by coal mining with large-scale operations beginning in 1878. A period of intense house-building also followed, giving Highley its distinctive red-brick terraced miners' houses. In the 1930s, the mine was extended to the neighbouring village of Alveley across the River Severn and a tunnel and bridge constructed between the two. There are also historical bridging points at Bridgnorth to the north and Bewdley to the south, and in Hampton Loade a private bridge used by the emergency services. ... Eddie Colquhoun
Edmund Peter Skirving Colquhoun (; 29 March 1945 – 16 April 2023) was a Scottish footballer who played as a centre back for Sheffield United and Scotland. Known to players and fans as Eddie Colquhoun, he started his professional football career with Bury in 1962. He made 81 league appearances and scored twice for them. He moved on to West Bromwich Albion in 1967. During his time at the club West Brom won the 1967-68 FA Cup but Colquhoun missed the final against Everton through injury. In 1968, Sheffield United had just been relegated to the Second Division. Their manager at the time was Arthur Rowley, and he signed Colquhoun from West Brom for £27,500. Colquhoun made his debut for Sheffield United against Huddersfield Town on 19 October 1968. Kidderminster is a large market and historic minster town and civil parish in Worcestershire, England, south-west of Birmingham and north of Worcester.
