Stan Gelbaugh
Stanley Morris Gelbaugh (born December 4, 1962) is a former American football quarterback in the National Football League for the Buffalo Bills, Phoenix Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks. He attained his greatest success in the World League of American Football with the London Monarchs, where he was the league's Offensive Most Valuable Player in its inaugural season. He played college football at the University of Maryland. Early years Gelbaugh lettered in football, basketball and track at Cumberland Valley High School. He played as a quarterback, punter and placekicker. He accepted a football scholarship from the University of Maryland. As a redshirt freshman he was tried at wide receiver in the spring, before being switched back to quarterback in the fall. A punter (P) in gridiron football is a special teams player who receives the snapped ball directly from the line of scrimmage and then punts (kicks) the football to the opposing team so as to limit any field position advantage. This generally happens on a fourth down in American football and a third down in Canadian football.
