Major Abraham Staats or Abram Staes (Amsterdam January 19, 1620 (baptized)– New York ca. 1694) was one of the first settlers of the New Netherland colonies and is the founder of the Staats family in New Amsterdam and the early American colonies. Early life Staats was born in Holland around 1618 and his parents were Isaac Staats (b. ca. 1586) and Sara Lauwers (1588–1641), originally from Antwerp. Barent Philip Staats (born September 25, 1796) was the mayor of Albany, New York. Staats ran as a Democrat and defeated John Townsend ( Whig) by 336 votes in 1842. The next year he doesn't run for reelection, and Friend Humphrey (Whig) defeated Peter Gansevoort by 226 votes. During the 57th New York State Legislature from January 1 – December 31, 1834 he was a Jacksonian Assemblyman. He was a doctor. Philip S. Johnny Staats is a bluegrass mandolin, guitar and violin player, born and raised in West Virginia. He has been featured on NBC's Today Show, in People Magazine, on the CBS Evening News and CNN, and has appeared on the Grand Ole Opry. Life and career Léo Staats studied ballet with Francis Merante, a dancer at the Paris Opera, and reportedly made his debut in 1887. In 1908 he became Ballet Master at the Paris Opera. Peter Sean Staats is an American physician, specializing in interventional pain medicine. He is the founder of the Division of Pain Medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and was the Division's chief for nearly a decade. He is a past president of the North American Neuromodulation Society. He is the past president of the New Jersey Society of Interventional Pain Medicine. He is the author of over four hundred articles, abstracts and book chapters regarding pain management and neuromodulation. He has written or co-edited 11 books on the science and clinical practice of interventional pain medicine.
