St Michael's Parish, Nowra
St Michael's Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic church located in 30 North Street, , New South Wales, Australia. Part of the Diocese of Wollongong, the Gothic Revival church is home to St Michael's Parish, Nowra. St Michael's Parish takes in the northern Shoalhaven City region andincorporates the Church Communities of St Michael's, Nowra; St Patrick's, Berry, Sacred Heart, Bomaderry; Mary, Help of Christians, Culburra; St Joseph's, Kangaroo Valley; and Holy Spirit, Vincentia. Building In November 1875 Archbishop Roger Vaughan laid the foundation stone of St. Michael's Church Nowra. He later blessed and opened it on 30 September 1877. It cost A£1,200. The church is built of squared rubble stonework in courses and originally had a shingle roof. The stonework is generally in good condition and despite several additions over the years, the southern and western elevations still indicate the original character of the building. The Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, often called the Josephites or Brown Joeys, are a Catholic religious order founded by Saint Mary MacKillop (1842–1909). Coolangatta is an historic area in Australia, on the north shore of the Shoalhaven River on the New South Wales south coast. History Cullunghutti is a Jerrinja word meaning "splendid view". Behind the settlement is a tall hill known as Coolangatta Mountain.
