St Mary's College, Rawalpindi
St Mary's College, Rawalpindi, is an institute of higher learning established by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Islamabad-Rawalpindi in 2006 to meet the growing educational needs of the region. It was first called the Ave Maria College of Professional and Applied Sciences. Students from the college and local high school prayed a rosary Pope Benedict XVI led from the Vatican through a special satellite linkup on 10 March 2007. About 100 local students, mostly from the college but also a small group from St. Mary's High School, joined students in Hong Kong, Kolkata in India, Manila in the Philippines, and seven European cities for the two-way telecast. Rome diocese's Pastoral Office for Universities organized the event, titled Intellectual Charity, the Way to Renewed Cooperation between Europe and Asia, with local Churches. Catholic Board Of Education
The Catholic Board of Education is the arm of the Roman Catholic Church in Pakistan responsible for education. Each diocese has its own board. Collectively the Catholic Church runs 534 schools, 8 colleges, and 7 technical institutes in its 2 archdioceses, 4 dioceses, and one Apostolic Prefecture. The Government of Pakistan nationalised most church schools and colleges in Punjab and Sindh in 1972. Elite schools such as St Patrick's High School, Karachi, St Joseph's Convent School (Karachi) and St Michael's Convent School were never nationalised. The Government of Sindh oversaw a denationalization program from 1985 to 1995, and the Government of Punjab began a similar program in 1996. Anthony Theodore Lobo
Anthony Theodore Felix Lobo (4 July 1937 – 18 February 2013) was a Pakistani Roman Catholic bishop. On 8 June 1982 he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Karachi by Pope John Paul II. On 28 May 1993 he became Bishop of Islamabad–Rawalpindi. Biography Lobo was born in Karachi, British India (now Pakistan) on 4 July 1937, to Joseph and Ermina Lobo, Catholics of Goan origin. He received his early education at Saint Patrick's High School and his religious training at the Christ the King seminary in Karachi, and was ordained a priest in Karachi on 8 January 1961. He also has degrees from the University of Karachi, Harvard and Paris. Bishop Lobo made important contributions to education in the country. Rawalpindi ( or ; Urdu, ) is a city in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The Catholic Diocese of Islamabad-Rawalpindi (Lat: ''Dioecesis Islamabadensis-Ravalpindensis'') is a diocese of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church in Pakistan. There is anecdotal evidence that St. Thomas the Apostle passed through Taxila (in this diocese) on his way to India in the first century AD. The diocese has a long history, as it was originally erected in 1887, as the Apostolic Prefecture of Kafiristan and Kashmir. The prefecture was erected from the Diocese of Lahore. Brigadier Samson Simon Sharaf is a retired officer in the Pakistan Army and a Political Economist. He served in Pakistan's Army for 33 years, most notably in Nuclear Policy making.
