St Louis Science Center
The Saint Louis Science Center, founded as a planetarium in 1963, is a collection of buildings including a science museum and planetarium in St. Louis, Missouri, on the southeastern corner of Forest Park. With over 750 exhibits in a complex of over , it is among the largest of its type in the United States. James S. McDonnell Planetarium Funding for the first structure of the current campus began in 1955, with $1 million of a $110 million city bond issue specified for the construction of a planetarium. Two years were spent surveying locations. The first proposed site, on the northern side of Forest Park near the Jefferson Memorial Building at Lindell and DeBaliviere, was scrapped because of restrictions on subdivisions. Metropolitan Zoological Park And Museum District
The Metropolitan Zoological Park and Museum District or ZMD is a cultural tax district in St. Louis City and St. Louis County, Missouri. The district has five subdistricts: the St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Science Center, Missouri History Museum, and Missouri Botanical Garden. Of these, all but the Botanical Gardens are located in or near Forest Park. Oak Knoll Park
Oak Knoll Park is a municipal park in Clayton, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Founded in 1958, it includes 14.5 acres of land that host one of the largest native stands of post oak trees. It also includes two early 20th-century stone mansions. In 1958, the Clayton Board of Aldermen authorized the purchase of a 21-acre tract of land at the northwest corner of Clayton Road and Big Bend Boulevard. City planners had recommended a purchase of land for the city's second municipal park, after Shaw Park, and this tract was deemed the only suitable candidate. Voters approved a $350,000 bond issue a few months later, and the land was ultimately purchased for $400,000.
