St George Cricket Club
St George District Cricket Club is a cricket club based in the St. George area that competes in NSW Premier Cricket. The club's home ground is Hurstville Oval. Trent Copeland
Trent Aaron Copeland (born 14 March 1986) is an Australian cricket player and commentator. He is a right-arm fast bowler who currently plays first-class cricket for New South Wales. He made his Test debut for Australia against Sri Lanka in August 2011. Cricket Originally from Bathurst, Trent Copeland began his career as a wicketkeeper at St George Cricket Club. In a third grade game, with the front-line bowlers exhausted, St George turned to Copeland needing 4 wickets for a win, with the close of play 10 minutes away. Copeland took 4/1 from 2 overs. Following this performance, Copeland quickly came up through the ranks of St George, and was the second highest wicket-taker with 61 at 16.62 in the Sydney Grade competition in 2008–09. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Rory Burns
Rory Joseph Burns (born 26 August 1990) is an English cricketer who plays internationally for the England Test cricket team. In domestic cricket, he captains Surrey in first-class and List A cricket. Burns made his Test debut in 2018. He led Surrey to the 2018 and 2022 County Championship titles. He plays as a left-handed opening batsman. Mark Stoneman
Mark Daniel Stoneman (born 26 June 1987) is an English cricketer who plays for Middlesex County Cricket Club and for England. He made his international debut for England in August 2017. He bats left handed and normally plays as an opening batsman. Early life and domestic career Stoneman attended Marley Hill County Primary School, followed by Whickham School. He joined Durham in 2005 and played two seasons in the second eleven, before making his first team debut in 2007. Kurtis Robert Patterson (born 5 April 1993) is an Australian cricketer who plays for the New South Wales cricket team in the Sheffield Shield, and the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League. Patterson scored a century on his first-class cricket debut for New South Wales in November 2011, becoming the youngest batsman to score a century in Sheffield Shield cricket. Stuart MacGill
Stuart Charles Glyndwr MacGill (born 25 February 1971) is an Australian former cricketer who played 44 Test matches and three One Day Internationals for the Australian national cricket team. He is a right-arm leg spin bowler, who has been credited with having the best strike rate of any modern leg-spin bowler, but he did not have a regular place in the Australian Test team due to the dominance of Shane Warne in the position of sole spinner. His bowling was slightly slower through the air than Warne's, but he was a prodigious turner of the ball. Murray Bennett
Murray John Bennett (born 6 October 1956) is a former Australian cricketer who played in three Test matches and eight One Day Internationals in 1984 and 1985. Early career Bennett made a promising start to his career as a left arm orthodox spin bowler by making a successful foray into Sydney Grade Cricket for St. George in 1973–74 and was selected for the New South Wales combined schoolboy team. During the 1976–77 season, he broke into the New South Wales Colts, the state youth team. Playing in two matches for the summer, he took nine wickets at 10.44. In the second of these matches he scored 102 not out and took a total of 6/34 in an innings win over Queensland Colts. Kerry O'Keeffe
Kerry James O'Keeffe (born 25 November 1949) is a former Australian cricketer and a current cricket commentator for Fox Sports. O'Keeffe played 24 Test matches and two One Day Internationals between 1971 and 1977. Playing career He was a spin bowler, bowling leg breaks. He never quite lived up to early expectations of being the next great Australian leg spin bowler, taking 53 wickets at an average of 38.07.
