St Benildus College
St Benildus College is an all-boys, Catholic secondary school located in Stillorgan, Dublin, Ireland. It was established in 1966 when free secondary education was introduced in Ireland. Founded in 2005, the College was named after the De La Salle Saint, Brother Benildus of Clermont, France. As of 2018, over 800 students were recorded as being current pupils at the school. It is located on the Upper Kilmacud Road in South Dublin on a 25-acre site. Most of the school's students live in the surrounding areas such as Ballinteer, Kilmacud, Sandyford, Dundrum, Goatstown, Stillorgan, Balally, Leopardstown and Ballyogan. St. Benildus College is under the trusteeship of Le Chéile since 2010 but retains its Lasallian ethos. Several accomplished De La Salle Brothers reside at St.Benildus monastery on the school grounds. Kilmacud
Kilmacud () is a suburban area of Dublin in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland, at least partly contiguous with Stillorgan. Name ''Kilmacud'' is an anglicisation of the Irish name , "church of aintMochuda". The identity of the dedicatee Mochuda is uncertain; is often a hypocoristic prefix. One possibility is Mo Chutu of Lismore. Another is the Welsh–Breton Malo or Mochud, supposedly a companion of Brendan the Navigator. Another suggestion is Cuthbert of Lindisfarne, whose cult could have been brought to Viking Dublin by Norse settlers from the Kingdom of Northumbria. This may be a conflation of Kilmacud with Kilmahuddrick, west of Clondalkin, which the annals of St. Mary's Abbey said is where Cuthbert was born. Location Ordnance Survey of Ireland maps show that the civil parish of Kilmacud comprises two townlands, Kilmacud East and West. Ray Cosgrove
Ray "Cossy" Cosgrove is an Irish Gaelic footballer, born in Dublin. He attended St. Benildus College in Kilmacud. He plays his club football for Kilmacud Crokes and played for the Dublin senior football team between 1996 and 2008. He will be most remembered for his incredible performances in the 2002 scoring an amazing 6–23 in a season which saw Dublin lift their first Leinster title since 1995. In 2002 when he won the 2002 Adult FL Division 1 title with Kilmacud Crokes, although he received a red card 12 minutes into the second half. Paul Mannion
Paul Mannion (born 25 May 1993) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for the Kilmacud Crokes club and, since 2013, at senior level for the Dublin county team. He transferred to Donegal Boston in 2022. Personal He studied International Commerce and Chinese in UCD. As part of his studies he spent a year living in China studying Mandarin Chinese. His year spent living abroad meant that he was not part of Dublin's All-Ireland win in 2015. Paul Cunningham (journalist)
Paul Cunningham is an Irish journalist and author. He is currently Political Correspondent for RTÉ News and Current Affairs. He has regularly reported on conflicts, natural disasters and other matters outside the EU. Most recently he reported from Iran, Ukraine and Iraq. He has won multiple awards for his work. Cunningham has also written two books, including ''Ireland's Burning''. Career Early career Cunningham started to write articles for local newspapers in Dublin, before freelancing with the Irish Times and Irish Press. James Keddy
James Keddy (born 26 March 1973) is an Irish football coach and former player who is currently manager at Wexford FC. Career Keddy made his League of Ireland debut for Home Farm on 13 October 1991. He joined UCD in 1994 and his other clubs have included Derry City, Shelbourne, Dundalk, Shamrock Rovers, Bohemians and Drogheda United. Keddy helped Shelbourne win the double of the League of Ireland and FAI Cup in 2000. Keddy received another FAI Cup winners medal as part of the Dundalk cup winning squad of 2002. Éamon Zayed ( ar, أیمن زايد; born 4 October 1983) is a former professional footballer who played as a forward. He is currently the head coach of Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC in USL League One. Diarmaid Ferriter
Diarmaid Ferriter (born February 1972) is an Irish historian, broadcaster and university professor. He has written eleven books on the subject of Irish history, and co-authored another. Ferriter attended St. Benildus College in Kilmacud in Dublin and University College Dublin. Career Since 2008, Ferriter is Professor of Modern Irish History at University College Dublin. He was formerly a senior lecturer in history at St. Patrick's College, Drumcondra, Dublin City University, and he was Burns Scholar at Boston College from 2008 to 2009.
