St. Xavier High School (Ohio)
Saint Xavier High School ( ; often abbreviated St. X) is a private, college-preparatory high school just outside the Cincinnati city limits, in the Finneytown neighborhood of Springfield Township, Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The independent, non-diocesan school is operated by the Midwest Province of the Society of Jesus as one of four all-male Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Aside from colleges and universities, St. Xavier is the second-largest private school in Ohio and one of the 100 largest schools in the state, with 1,514 enrolled students . St. Xavier is the oldest high school in the Cincinnati area and one of the oldest in the nation. It grew out of the Athenaeum, which opened in 1831 in downtown Cincinnati. North Bend, Ohio
North Bend is a village in Miami Township, Hamilton County, Ohio, United States, along the Ohio River. It is a part of the Greater Cincinnati area. The population was 857 at the 2010 census. History North Bend was founded in 1789. It was platted as Symmes City but ultimately never took that name. Instead, it was incorporated as the village of North Bend in 1845. It is named for its location, where the Ohio River meanders to the north. President Benjamin Harrison was born in North Bend. It was the home of his grandfather, President William Henry Harrison. North Bend is the location of the grave of John Cleves Symmes at Congress Green Cemetery and of the William Henry Harrison Tomb State Memorial, the grave of William Henry Harrison. Woodward High School (Cincinnati, Ohio)
Woodward Career Technical High School is a public high school located in the Bond Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. It is part of the Cincinnati Public School District. It was founded as one of the first public schools in the United States in 1831. History Old Woodward Building Woodward was one of the first public schools in the country. The land for the original school was donated by William Woodward and his wife Abigail Cutter in 1826 to provide free education for poor children who could not afford private schooling. Their remains are buried on school grounds in the Over-the-Rhine area of Cincinnati (and it is a fixture of student lore that Abigail's ghost haunts the building). The Woodward Free Grammar School opened on the site in 1831 and was the first free public school in the city. The original two-story school building was replaced in 1855.
