St. Therese Of Infant Jesus Church, Kandanvilai
The St. Therese of Child Jesus Church, Kandanvilai is the first church which is dedicated to St. Therese after her beatification and blessed on 7 April 1924. Kandanvilai is a village in Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu, India. It is on the Nagercoil–Monday Nager Highway, from Nagercoil. The Roman Rite ( la, Ritus Romanus) is the primary liturgical rite of the Latin Church, the largest of the ''sui iuris'' particular churches that comprise the Catholic Church. Kanniyakumari district is one of the 38 districts in Tamil Nadu state and the southernmost district in mainland India. It stands second in terms of population density among the districts of Tamil Nadu. Nagercoil, also spelt as Nagarkovil ("Temple of the Nāgas", or Nagaraja-Temple), is a city and the administrative headquarters of Kanyakumari District in Tamil Nadu state, India. Eraniel Railway station (Station code: ERL) in Eraniel is the most important railway station of Kallkkulam taluk of Kanyakumari district in the Tamil Nadu state of India. The station has two platforms and falls on the Kanyakumari–Thiruvananthapuram line in the Thiruvananthapuram division of the Southern Railway zone. Kandanvilai is a village in Kanyakumari District in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. History In 1935, Kandanvilai was attached to the Karankadu parish under the Diocese of Quilon. During this time Mr Packianathan donated his land to a Diocese and requested that a church be built in Kandanvilai ண்டன்விளை The Bishop of the Diocese of Quilon, Most Rev Fr. Aloysius Maria Benziger OCD consented and together with the parish priest of Karankadu came down to Kandanvilai to select a site. Eraniel is a panchayat town in Kanyakumari district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is of major commercial and political importance in the history of South India, as it was the seasonal capital of the affluent Venad and later Travancore kingdoms until the seventeenth century, when Padmanabhapuram and Thiruvananthapuram rose to prominence.
