The St. Louis Skating Club is a figure skating club based in St. Louis, Missouri. The club is headquartered at Brentwood Ice Arena, 2505 S. Brentwood Blvd., Brentwood, MO. 1894 Formation St. Louis Skating Club was the first ever skating club in St. Louis. It was formed December 13, 1894 on 13th Street in" North" St. Louis. Figure Skating Club
A figure skating club is a local organization of figure skaters, often centered on a single ice rink. Typical club activities include arranging practice ice time, hosting test sessions and competitions, and producing an annual ice show in which club skaters may take part. Some clubs also emphasize non-skating social activities. Practice ice Many ice rinks, particularly those that are municipally owned, do not sell practice ice directly to figure skaters. Instead, the local figure skating club contracts with the rink for blocks of ice time, which the club then resells to its members. At some clubs, the normal procedure is for skaters to contract in advance for an entire season's worth of ice time. In North America, a relatively small number of skating clubs own their own rink instead of buying ice time. Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH (trading as Steinberg) is a German musical software and hardware company based in Hamburg. Joseph Forshaw (athlete)
Joseph Forshaw, Jr. (May 13, 1881 – November 26, 1964) was an American athlete who competed mainly in the Marathon. Career Forshaw ran the Marathon in three Olympic Games. He competed for the United States in the 1908 Summer Olympics held in London, Great Britain where he won the bronze medal in the Marathon . At the 1906 Intercalated Games in Athens he finished in twelfth place, and at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm he was 10th in the event. On May 6, 1905, Forshaw beat Sidney Hatch and Felix Carvajol to win the Missouri Athletic Club's All-Western Marathon in a time of 3:15:58. Three years later on May 2, 1908, he finished second to Hatch in the same race in 2:30:01, his best time in the event. In both races, Forshaw competed for the Missouri Athletic Club. Brandon Mroz
Brandon Mroz (born December 22, 1990) is an American former competitive figure skater. He is the 2009 U.S. silver medalist and the 2006 & 2007 Junior Grand Prix Final silver medalist. He is the first skater to have completed a quadruple Lutz jump in a sanctioned competition. Personal life Brandon Mroz was born in St. Louis, Missouri, one of four brothers. His mother and a brother suffered serious injuries in a car accident. Mroz's mother was at one time a synchronized skater, and his father an ice hockey player. Mroz has expressed interest in becoming a dentist. Career Early career Mroz began skating at age 3 and a half. He was coached by Shannon Nester and Debbie Howe from 2001 through 2004 and by Doug Leigh and Michelle Leigh in Barrie, Ontario, from 2002 through 2004.
