St. John's College, University Of Hong Kong
St. John’s College is an Anglican college affiliated to the University of Hong Kong,Section 3, St. John's College Ordinance (Cap. 1089). which provides accommodation to undergraduates and postgraduates. As the successor of St. John’s Hall, which was founded in 1912, the College is the oldest residential hall/college of the University. Constitutionally, the College is a body corporate established by statute, the St. John’s College Ordinance (Chapter 1089, Laws of Hong Kong), on 27 April 1956. As such, unlike other residential halls/colleges that are directly administered by the University, the College enjoys financial and administrative independence. The Ricci Hall, run by the Jesuits, is the only other non-University-administered hall. Stanley Internment Camp
Stanley Internment Camp () was a civilian internment camp in Hong Kong during the Second World War. Located in Stanley, on the southern end of Hong Kong Island, it was used by the Japanese imperial forces to hold non-Chinese enemy nationals after their victory in the Battle of Hong Kong in December 1941. About 2,800 men, women, and children were held at the non- segregated camp for 44 months from early January 1942 to August 1945 when Japanese forces surrendered. The camp area consisted of St Stephen's College and the grounds of Stanley Prison, excluding the prison itself. Arthur Dudley Stewart
The Reverend Arthur Dudley Stewart (史超域牧師) (1877–1948) was a British missionary to Hong Kong and the seventh principal of St. Paul's College, Hong Kong. Biography Arthur Dudley Stewart was born on 8 October 1877 in Fuzhou, China. His father, Rev. Robert Warren Stewart and his mother, Louisa Kathleen Stewart (née Smyly) were both members of well-known Dublin families. They had gone out to Fujian as C.M.S. missionaries in 1875. Arthur spent his early years in Fuzhou and spoke Fuzhou dialect before he learned to speak English. In 1882, the Stewarts went on furlough, and when they returned to China, Arthur and two young brothers were left in the care of their grandfather, Mr. J.R. Stewart of Gortletteragh, Dunlaoghaire. Herbert Turnbull
Prof Herbert Westren Turnbull FRS FRSE LLD (31 August 1885 – 4 May 1961) was an English mathematician. From 1921 to 1950 he was Regius Professor of Mathematics at the University of St Andrews. Life He was born in the Tettenhall district, on the outskirts of Wolverhampton on 31 August 1885, the eldest of five sons of William Peveril Turnbull, HM Inspector of Schools. He was educated at Sheffield Grammar School then studied Mathematics at Cambridge University graduating MA. Edward Albert Ram (24 April 1858 – 27 January 1946) was an English footballer for Clapham Rovers F.C., Clapham Rovers and prominent architect in Hong Kong during his days in early 20th century. He helped Clapham Rovers to win the 1880 FA Cup Final. From 1885 to 1927, he served as an architect in Hong Kong and formed "Denison, Ram & Gibbs". Heep Yunn School (Chinese 協恩中學) is an Anglican girls' secondary school founded in 1936, commonly known simply as HYS. It is located in Ma Tau Wai, Kowloon, Hong Kong. The School commenced operation in the DSS (Direct Subsidy Scheme) mode starting from junior forms in September 2012. It is governed by the Council of Heep Yunn School, also the sponsoring body of the primary and kindergarten sections.
