St. Huberts, New York
Keene is a town in central Essex County, New York, United States. It includes the hamlets of Keene, Keene Valley, and St. Huberts, with a total population of 1,144 as of the 2020 census The town is part of the Adirondack Park, and includes 15 of the 46 High Peaks, including Mount Marcy, New York's highest mountain, and the rest of the Great Range. It also includes the Ausable Lakes, the source of the Ausable River. Trailheads for many of the High Peaks are located within the town, along with the Johns Brook Lodge of the Adirondack Mountain Club. History The earliest settlement in the present village of Keene Center was in 1787. The town of Keene was created from splitting parts of the towns of Jay and Elizabethtown on March 19, 1808. Adirondack High Peaks
The Adirondack High Peaks are a set of 46 mountain peaks in the Adirondack Mountains of New York (state), New York state. They have been popular hiking destinations since the late 1920s, when the list of peaks was published in Russell Carson's book ''Peaks and Peoples of the Adirondacks''. Those who have climbed all 46 High Peaks are eligible to join the Adirondack Forty-Sixers club. New York State Route 9N
New York State Route 9N (NY 9N) is a north–south state highway in northeastern New York in the United States. It extends from an intersection with U.S. Route 9 (US 9), NY 29, and NY 50 in the city of Saratoga Springs to a junction with US 9 and NY 22 in the Clinton County hamlet of Keeseville. At in total length, NY 9N is the longest letter-suffixed route in the state. It is concurrent with its parent route for in the village of Lake George and for three blocks in the hamlet of Elizabethtown. Much of NY 9N runs alongside either a river or a lake. Hurricane Mountain Fire Observation Station
The Hurricane Mountain Fire Observation Station is a historic fire observation station located on Hurricane Mountain at Keene in Essex County, New York. The station and contributing resources include a , steel frame lookout tower erected in 1919, two trails leading up the summit, and the ruins of a lean-to style observers cabin.
