St. Francis Xavier University Students' Union
The StFX Student Union, known as ''The U'', represents the students at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is a student-run organization; it represents over 4000 students and it provides many services and activities. ''The U'' sits as a voting member on the federal lobbying group CASA and studentsNS (formerly ANSSA). Structure ''The U'' is organized as a collegial student government. Each January a president and vice president run separately from each other, and are elected by the student body. The elected officials then choose an executive team which serves as their cabinet for the following year. The new executive team works to structure the following year's budget and determine the organization's direction. The hired executive is then ratified by the Students' Representative Council (who are the elected officials of The U). Canadian Alliance Of Student Associations
The Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA) is a federally focused student advocacy organization. CASA currently has 24 members, who represent over 275,000 students from across Canada. With a formal partnership with the Quebec Student Union, CASA represents 365,000 students. CASA works towards an accessible, affordable, innovative and high-quality post-secondary education system. History CASA's origins can be traced to the first Winds of Change conference hosted by the University of Alberta in 1990. In what would become an annual meeting, student leaders from across the country were invited to come together to discuss challenges facing post-secondary education students in Canada. In 1993 the federal government announced that all of Canada's social programs would be reviewed with sweeping and significant changes likely to come which prompted several student unions not affiliated with the CFS to try to organize efforts to lobby the federal government on education issues. ...

Alliance Of Nova Scotia Student Associations
The Alliance of Nova Scotia Student Associations (ANSSA) was the largest post-secondary student advocacy group in Nova Scotia, Canada and the largest student organization in the Atlantic Provinces. In 2012 it was renamed Students Nova Scotia. The organization historically represented 80-87% of the province's university students. It worked towards improved funding for education in Nova Scotia and the elimination of real and perceived financial barriers for university students. ANSSA's member organizations were the Dalhousie Student Union, the Acadia Students' Union, the Atlantic School of Theology Students' Union, the St. Francis Xavier University Students' Union, the Saint Mary's University Students' Association, and the Cape Breton University Student Union. StudentsNS
Students Nova Scotia (Students NS), formerly known as the Alliance of Nova Scotia Student Associations (ANSSA), is an alliance of some Nova Scotia post-secondary student associations. Its stated aim is to give students a voice in Nova Scotia with government and the public, helping set the direction of post-secondary education by researching challenges, identifying solutions, and creating the political space needed for these solutions to happen. Its six member associations represent close to 18,000 students on campuses across the province. StudentsNS is governed by a board of directors composed of presidents and vice-presidents from each member association.
