St. Charles Catholic High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Laplace, Louisiana. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans. History In 1948, a parochial high school, St. Charles Borromeo High School, opened in Destrehan, Louisiana. The school was located on the grounds of the St. Charles Borromeo Church and was operated by the Sisters of the Congregation of the Immaculate Conception. In 1960, the Sisters of the Most Holy Sacrament took over operation of the school and in 1978 the high school moved to LaPlace, Louisiana becoming St. Charles Catholic High School. LaPlace ( ) is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana, United States, situated along the east bank of the Mississippi River, in the New Orleans metropolitan area. In 2020, it had a population of 28,841. LaPlace is the southern terminus of Interstate 55, where it joins with Interstate 10, and of US 51, where it terminates at the junction with US 61. This is a list of schools in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans. They are not all operated by the archdiocese. There are 5 universities or colleges and over 20 high schools within the archdiocese. As per a 2013 strategic plan the New Orleans Archdiocese allows affiliated schools to either be grade PK-7 combined elementary and middle schools (similar to a K-8 school), grade 8-12 senior high schools, or full K-12 schools. As per the plan the standalone middle schools and combined middle and high schools were to reconfigure themselves. The new configurations were to be effective for the 2015-2016 school year. 37 schools were to be affected by the grade reconfiguration. Curtis Johnson, Jr. (born November 5, 1961) is an American football coach who is the head coach for the Houston Gamblers of the United States Football League (USFL). He was the head coach at Tulane University from 2012 to 2015. Coaching career Early years After graduating from the University of Idaho, Johnson first became a wide receivers coach at Lewiston High School in Lewiston, Idaho before taking his first college assistant job for Idaho in 1987. Tyrell Joseph Fenroy (born March 6, 1987) is a former American football running back. He was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He played college football at Louisiana-Lafayette. Early years Fenroy attended St. Charles Catholic High School in Laplace, Louisiana prior to attending ULL. He earned Class 3A All-State honors as a senior with 1,580 rushing yards on 166 carries in the regular season a total that ranked 9th in the state among all five classifications. The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) is the agency that regulates and promotes the interscholastic athletic competitions of all high schools in the state of Louisiana.
