St. Catharines Falcons (1968–)
The St. Catharines Falcons are a junior ice hockey team based in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Golden Horseshoe division of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. The Falcons play their home games inside Seymour Hannah 4-pad in Western Hill St. Catharines. History The current Falcons franchise originated in 1968. The league entered the "Niagara District Junior "B" Hockey League" that same year. The Niagara "B" became the Golden Horseshoe "B" in 1974. The Falcons have competed every year in the league since 1968. In 2012, the Falcons attempted to win the Sutherland Cup for the first time in six tries. They defeated the Brantford Eagles ''4-games-to-2'' to clinch their first ever OHA Junior B championship. Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League
The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) is a Canadian junior ice hockey league based in Southern Ontario, Canada. The league is sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Association, Ontario Hockey Federation, and Hockey Canada. The league is considered Junior B by the OHA, although it has attempted several times to be promoted to Junior A. The league was created in 2007 through the merging of the Western Ontario Hockey League, Mid-Western Junior Hockey League, and Golden Horseshoe Junior Hockey League to dissuade perceived "player raiding" from teams in the then- Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League. The twenty-five teams of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League come from Southwestern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe. Ancaster Avalanche
The Ancaster Avalanche were a Canada, Canadian junior hockey, junior ice hockey team based in Ancaster, Ontario. They played in the Golden Horseshoe Conference of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. The team was known as the Stoney Creek Warriors prior to 2013. In 2018, they relocated to become the Hamilton Kilty B's. History The Warriors were formed in 1974 as a member of the Niagara & District Junior C Hockey League. As a Junior C team, the Warriors would win four league titles. The Warriors moved up to the Golden Horseshoe Junior B Hockey League in 1994 under the name Spirit. In the Summer of 2013, the team was relocated to Ancaster, Ontario and renamed the Avalanche. On September 7, 2013, hockey officially returned to Ancaster, as the Avalanche hosted the Buffalo Regals in their season opener and defeated them 10-3. Daultan Leveille
Daultan Michael Leveille (born August 10, 1990) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the first round, 29th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, becoming the first player in NHL history to be drafted out of a Jr. B level league in the first round. He never played a game in the NHL. Playing career Junior Leveille was born in St. Catharines, Ontario. After playing 'AAA' hockey for the St. Catharines Minor Hockey Association all his childhood, Leveille was drafted by the Ottawa 67's in the ninth round of the 2006 OHL Priority Draft. Paul Laus
Paul Laus (born September 26, 1970) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League for the Florida Panthers. Laus was the last original members of the Panthers. Career Born in Beamsville, Ontario, Laus was a Junior B standout with the St. Catharines Falcons before joining the Ontario Hockey League. He spent three years with the Hamilton Steelhawks/Niagara Falls Thunder franchise and was selected 37th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins at the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. Jeff Carl Greenlaw (born February 28, 1968) is a former Canadian ice hockey player. He played 57 games in the National Hockey League with the Washington Capitals and Florida Panthers between 1986 and 1994. Greenlaw was born in Aylmer, Ontario. The Cambridge Winter Hawks were a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Mid-Western division of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. The Elmira Sugar Kings are a junior ice hockey team based in Elmira, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Mid-Western division of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. The Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins are a junior ice hockey team based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Mid-Western division of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. Stratford Cullitons
The Stratford Warriors are a junior ice hockey team based in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Mid-Western division of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. The team was originally named the Warriors but was changed to Cullitons in 1975 in honour of the team sponsor the Culliton brothers.
