St. Anthony's Shrine ( si, ශාන්ත අන්තෝනි සිද්ධස්ථානය, translit=Śānta Antōni Siddhasthānaya; ta, புனித அந்தோனியார் திருத்தலம், translit=Puṉita Antōṉiyār Tiruttalam) is a Catholic Church, Roman Catholic church in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Colombo, Archdiocese of Colombo in Sri Lanka. The church is located at Kotahena, Kochchikade, Kotahena, Colombo 13, and is dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua. The church is designated a national shrine and minor basilica. 2019 Sri Lanka Easter Bombings
On 21 April 2019, Easter Sunday, three churches in Sri Lanka and three luxury hotels in the commercial capital, Colombo, were targeted in a series of coordinated ISIS-related terrorist suicide bombings. Later that day, there were smaller explosions at a housing complex in Dematagoda and a guest house in Dehiwala. A total of 269 people were killed, including at least 45 foreign nationals, three police officers, and eight bombers, and at least 500 were injured.
