St. Andrew's Athletic Club was a sports club established in Argentina by Scottish immigrants from the St. Andrew's Scots School, the oldest private school of Argentina. Barracas, Buenos Aires
Barracas is a ''barrio'', or district, in the southeast part of the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is located between the railroad of Ferrocarril General Manuel Belgrano and the Riachuelo River, and the streets ''Regimiento de Patricios'', ''Defensa'', ''Caseros'', ''Vélez Sársfield'', ''Amancio Alcorta'', ''Lafayette'', and ''Lavardén''. Club Atlético Banfield is an Argentine sports club based in the Banfield district of Greater Buenos Aires. It was founded on 21 January 1896, by the British–origin inhabitants of that city (mostly English, and some Scots and Irish). The club is mostly known for its football teams, that currently competes in Primera División, the top division of the Argentine football league system. Primera B Metropolitana is one of two professional leagues that form the third level of the Argentine football league system. The division is made up of 17 clubs mainly from the city of Buenos Aires and its metropolitan area, Greater Buenos Aires. Originally created as the second division, it became the third level after a restructuring of the system in 1985 that ended with the creation of Primera B Nacional, set as the second division since then. The other league at level three is the Torneo Federal A, where teams from regional leagues take part. Charles Douglas Moffatt
Charles Douglas Moffatt (5 July 1870 – 1 March 1953) was an English footballer, considered one of the pioneers of the sport in Argentina, active in the country as a player between 1891 and 1901. Career Born in London, Moffatt arrived in Argentina in November 1889 at the age of 19. He worked in some British-owned companies in the country, such as Walter Sons & Co, Hume Brothers, the Buenos Aires Western Railway and last, the Buenos Aires Great Southern Railway from which he retired in 1928. One of his workmates in the Southern Railway was Alex Lamont of St. Andrew's Scots School, which would later establish the Argentine Association Football League (the first football body in Argentina and predecessor of current Argentine Football Association) that organized the first Primera División championship in 1891.
