Square Of Violence
''Square of Violence'' is a 1961 drama film directed by Leonardo Bercovici and written by Eric Bercovici and Leonardo Bercovici. The film, shot in Yugoslavia, stars Broderick Crawford, Valentina Cortese, Branko Pleša, Bibi Andersson and Anita Björk. The film was released on July 7, 1961, by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Plot Set in Italy, the story takes place in this very country, during WW2, where German occupation army ruled everything, just before the allied forces came, in 1944. Crawford plays here a doctor whose son has been shot by the Germans. Of course he has no more taste in life. He continues his work as a German officers' physician. One day, he throws a bomb just in the middle of German troops. Many soldiers and officers are killed. Some time later, the lead officer of the Nazis troops suspects the doctor to be the responsible of the explosion. He lets him know that he himself knows. Leonardo Bercovici
Leonardo Bercovici (January 4, 1908, Brooklyn, New York, USA – November 22, 1995, Los Angeles, California, USA) was an American screenwriter, film director and producer. Blacklisting and aftermath Bercovici was called to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee and blacklisted. He was named by Edward Dmytryk and Richard Collins. On May 16, 1951, he swore he was not a member of the Communist Party, but invoked his fifth amendment right to incriminate himself when he was asked whether he had been a member in the past. He moved to Europe and worked in the European film industry until about 1958, when it was announced he would write the Tyrone Power film ''Two Against Tomorrow'', but Power's death ended the project. Aleksandar Sekulović
Aleksandar Sekulović (25 September 1918 – 28 August 1974) was an award-winning Yugoslavian cinematographer. Sekulović started his career in the late 1940s, shooting newsreels commissioned by the Yugoslav People's Army. His first experience with filmmaking came in 1947, when he was assistant to cinematographer Žorž Skrigin during the making of the war drama ''Slavica'' (directed by Vjekoslav Afrić). The following year Sekulović shot his first feature film, ''Immortal Youth'' (''Besmrtna mladost''). He went on to shoot some 20 feature films in a prolific career which spanned almost three decades and which earned him four Golden Arena for Best Cinematography awards at the Pula Film Festival, the Yugoslav national film awards festival.
