''The Adventures of Spunky and Tadpole'' is an animated television series produced by Beverly Hills Productions and syndicated beginning on September 6, 1958. The show's characters were a boy and a bear who hunted down bad guys. The show was made in three and a half-minute episodes, with ten parts comprising each story. It was most frequently shown one episode a day as part of a local station's afternoon children's programming. The show remained in production until 1961. Joan Gardner (November 16, 1926 – December 10, 1992) was an American voice actress who was most active in voice over roles. She was also a screenwriter, songwriter, author and composer. Early life She was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 16, 1926, to Jack "Jumbo" Gardner, a prominent jazz musician and Adelaide (Cline) Gardner. Career She started her career on the stage. Don Markstein's Toonopedia (subtitled A Vast Repository of Toonological Knowledge) is an online encyclopedia of print cartoons, comic strips and animation, initiated February 13, 2001. Donald D. Markstein, the sole writer and editor of Toonopedia, termed it "the world's first hypertext encyclopedia of toons" and stated, "The basic idea is to cover the entire spectrum of American cartoonery." Markstein began the project during 1999 with several earlier titles: he changed Don's Cartoon Encyberpedia (1999) to Don Markstein's Cartoonopedia (2000) after learning the word "Encyberpedia" had been trademarked. Tadpole
A tadpole is the larval stage in the biological life cycle of an amphibian. Most tadpoles are fully aquatic, though some species of amphibians have tadpoles that are terrestrial. Tadpoles have some fish-like features that may not be found in adult amphibians such as a lateral line, gills and swimming tails. As they undergo metamorphosis, they start to develop functional lungs for breathing air, and the diet of tadpoles changes drastically.
