Spruce Creek is located in the Atlin Country region of British Columbia. The creek flows into Pine Creek. Fred Marius discovered gold in this creek in 1898. Spruce Creek Airport is a private airport located in Port Orange, seven miles (11 km) south of the central business district of Daytona Beach, in Volusia County, Florida, United States. It was originally constructed during World War II as an outlying field (OLF) to nearby Naval Air Station DeLand and NAS Daytona Beach. OLF Spruce Creek originally had four paved 4,000 foot runways and was abandoned by the U.S. Navy in 1946. Spruce Creek High School is a public secondary school located in the city of Port Orange, Florida. It is the largest IB high school in North America and is one of Newsweek's Top 100 High Schools. Spruce Creek High School is part of the Volusia County Schools system, which encompasses eight other high schools and 80 schools total. The one-story campus is dominated by a single, contiguous main building, with a separate, smaller Multi-purpose building and several portable classroom buildings (a total of 48 as of 2016), which are spread out across the campus. The Halifax River is part of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, located in northeast Volusia County, Florida. The waterway was originally known as the North Mosquito River, but was renamed after George Montagu-Dunk, 2nd Earl of Halifax (for whom Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada is also named), during the British occupation of Florida (1763–1784). Spruce Creek is a long tidal creek in York County, Maine beginning in Eliot, Maine and flows to the Atlantic ocean in Kittery, Maine.
