Spring Tigers
Spring Tigers are an American pop band from Athens, Georgia. The band was formed in March 2008. History The band was formed when Kris Barratt, as frontman of the since disbanded group, the Capes, found himself stranded in Athens mid-tour when his record label was unable to fly him back to England. According to Barratt, the new band was formed to open for the band, the Lodger, only five days before the showtime, "One night when I was at GO Bar, I talked to a guy I knew that worked there about playing the show with me, and between the two of us we were able to find more people and form a band to play the show." The band's name is derived from a song by Guided By Voices. Spring Tigers signed in 2009 to indie label Bright Antenna. They released their eponymous mini-LP ''Spring Tigers'' in 2009. Carl Gauze of Ink19, in his review, noted the band's "energetic pop", and wrote, "this band has some real potential and with a few more years touring and recording, they just might be the ... Post-punk
Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad genre of punk music that emerged in the late 1970s as musicians departed from punk's traditional elements and raw simplicity, instead adopting a variety of avant-garde sensibilities and non-rock influences. Bright Antenna Records is an independent record label, founded in 2007 and based in Mill Valley, California. The label was created by producer Sep V and by writer Tiffanie DeBartolo and named after the lyrics to the song "The Spirit of Radio" by Rush. Bright Antenna specializes in artist development and, in addition to its label services, operates an online store for its vinyl and specialty products. A mini-LP or mini-album is a short vinyl record album or LP, usually retailing at a lower price than an album that would be considered full-length. It is distinct from an EP due to containing more tracks and a slightly longer running length. A mini-LP is not to be confused with the Japanese CDs issued in a "mini LP sleeve" or "paper jacket". In South Korea, a mini album () is a type of music release that contains 4-7 songs. It is shorter than a Album, full album but longer than a single album. Gramophone Record
A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. The groove usually starts near the periphery and ends near the center of the disc. At first, the discs were commonly made from shellac, with earlier records having a fine abrasive filler mixed in. Starting in the 1940s polyvinyl chloride became common, hence the name vinyl. The phonograph record was the primary medium used for music reproduction throughout the 20th century. It had co-existed with the phonograph cylinder from the late 1880s and had effectively superseded it by around 1912. Records retained the largest market share even when new formats such as the compact cassette were mass-marketed.
