Spring Gully Conservation Park
Spring Gully Conservation Park, formerly the Spring Gully National Park), is a protected area located in the Australian state of South Australia in the localities of Sevenhills and Spring Gully about south of the town centre in Clare. The conservation park consists of land in sections 142, 365, 568 and 572 in the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Clare. Section 568 was proclaimed on 12 January 1961 as a ''wildlife reserve'' under the ''Crown Lands Act 1929''. Section 572 was dedicated as a ''wildlife reserve'' on 20 January 1966. On 9 November 1967, land in sections 568 and 572 was proclaimed under the ''National Parks Act 1966'' as the ''Spring Gully National Park''. Section 365 was added to the national park on 21 March 1968. On 27 April 1972, land in sections 365, 568 and 572 was proclaimed as the ''Spring Gully Conservation Park''. Sevenhills, South Australia
The Australian monastic town of Sevenhill is in the Clare Valley of South Australia, approximately 130 km north of Adelaide. The town was founded by members of the Jesuit order in 1850. The name, bestowed by Austrian Jesuit priest Aloysius Kranewitter, is in homage to the seven hills of Rome. History The first Jesuits in the locality were based in Clare from 1848. They were being urged by Catholic Prussians at Tanunda, who felt uncomfortable among the more numerous Lutheran Prussians, to establish a Catholic settlement in the Clare district and so began a search for a suitable locality. Section 91 in the Hundred of Clare had been purchased in 1850 as a speculation by Thomas Burr, former Deputy Surveyor General of South Australia. Riesling Trail
The Riesling Trail is a long walking and cycling track located in the Clare Valley, South Australia. Established for recreational purposes, it runs between Auburn and Clare, passing through several towns and villages along the way, including Leasingham, Watervale, Penwortham and Sevenhill. The trail is named after Riesling, the most important white grape variety in the Clare Valley wine region. It continues north of Clare to the area known as Barinia. The Riesling Trail route is part of the former Spalding railway line branch line which ran between Riverton in the south to a northern terminus at Spalding. The section of railway from Riverton to Clare was opened in 1918. The Mid North is a region of South Australia, north of the Adelaide Plains and south of the Far North and the outback. It is generally accepted to extend from Spencer Gulf east to the Barrier Highway, including the coastal plain, the southern part of the Flinders Ranges, and the northern part of the Mount Lofty Ranges.
