Spring Fever (1919 Film)
''Spring Fever'' is a 1919 short comedy film directed by Hal Roach and featuring Harold Lloyd. Plot Harold is an office worker whose mind wanders from his mundane clerical tasks because of the lovely weather. Unable to resist the pull of a park on a beautiful spring day, Harold walks out on his job. He is pursued into the park by irked office colleagues and his boss. Harold's playful antics in the park quickly annoy several people, causing a large mob to start chasing him. While hiding in some shrubbery, Harold encounters Bebe who herself is hiding from an unwanted suitor (Snub). The mob attacks Snub, thinking he is Harold. Bebe and Harold quietly escape to an ice cream parlor where Harold has insufficient money to pay for their treats. Harold attempts a few creative tricks to avoid paying the bill. Harry Eugene "Hal" Roach Sr.Randy Skretvedt, Skretvedt, Randy (2016), ''Laurel and Hardy: The Magic Behind the Movies'', Bonaventure Press. p.608. (January 14, 1892 – November 2, 1992) was an American film and television producer, director, and screenwriter, who was the founder of the namesake Hal Roach Studios. Roach was active in the industry from the 1910s to the 1990s and is best remembered today for producing a number of successes including the Laurel and Hardy franchise, the films of entertainer Charley Chase, and the ''Our Gang'' short film comedy series. Early life and career Hal Roach was born in Elmira, New York, to Charles Henry Roach, whose father was born in Wicklow, County Wicklow, Ireland, and Mabel Gertrude Bally, her father John Bally being from Switzerland. Noah Young
Noah Young, Jr. (February 2, 1887 – April 18, 1958) was a champion weightlifter and actor. Biography Young was born in Cañon City, Colorado. His father, Noah Young, was a foreman of the Glenrock coal mine who later became a coal mine inspector for the State of Wyoming; and his mother was Mary Anson, of English descent. Noah Young Sr. came from a family of coal miners in Lancashire, England; and he dabbled in bare knuckle fighting before heading to America in 1874 and settling in Colorado. He was allegedly once an Indian scout and became friends with William F. Cody. Noah Young Jr. joined the Hal Roach studios as an actor, mainly playing comic villains. He appeared in several Laurel and Hardy comedies but was more notable as a foil for Harold Lloyd, whom he supported in over 50 films. Harold Lloyd Filmography
These are the known films of Harold Lloyd (1893–1971), an American actor and filmmaker most famous for his hugely successful and influential silent film comedies. Most of these films are known to survive in Lloyd's personal archive collection and in various film archives around the world. Some are also available on DVD or Blu-ray. The negatives of many of Lloyd's early short films were lost in a fire at his estate in 1943. The losses include five of the six Willie Work films, 53 of the 67 Lonesome Luke films, and 15 of the 81 one-reel Glasses character films. All of Lloyd's films from '' Bumping into Broadway'' (1919) onward exist in complete form in the archives. He carefully preserved his feature films, and they remain in excellent condition. All of the films are listed in order of release date. The BFI National Archive is a department of the British Film Institute, and one of the largest film archives in the world. It was founded as the National Film Library in 1935; its first curator was Ernest Lindgren. In 1955, its name became the National Film Archive, and, in 1992, the National Film and Television Archive.
