1932–33 American Soccer League
Statistics of American Soccer League in the 1932-33 season. Overview This was the last season for the first American Soccer League. After the disastrous 1932 season, the league began a 1932–1933 season in October 1932. Although it began well, with nine teams competing, the turmoil from earlier in the year continued as several teams withdrew during the first half and others during the mid-season break. At that point, the historical record becomes contradictory. The league may have intended the season to run from the fall of 1932 into the spring of 1933. However, a May 29, 1933, ''New York Times'' story has this headline: "Brookhattan Beats Americans At Soccer: Triumphs by 2-1 to Capture Honors for First Half of League Competition". This implies the possibility the league had abandoned the 1932–1933 season and tried to begin again in May 1933 with a full spring–fall season. Regardless, the league collapsed in the summer of 1933, to be replaced by the semi-professional ...

New York Americans (soccer)
The New York Americans were an American soccer club founded in 1931. Based in New York, New York, it played in both the first American Soccer League and second American Soccer League. History In 1931, Erno Schwarz, who had played for both the New York Giants and Hakoah All-Stars in the ASL, founded his own team, the New York Americans. That fall, he entered it into the American Soccer League which was in the process of collapsing caused by financial losses stemming from the 1928–1929 "Soccer Wars" and the onset of the Great Depression. Schwarz owned, played for and managed the Americans through the last two years of the ASL's existence. After the disintegration of the original ASL following the 1933 spring season, the ownership of the Americans and New York Brookhattan helped form a new, but lower professional level, ASL in 1933/34. A notable player for the team was Sol Eisner. Just before the 1956/57 season, the club merged with Brooklyn Hakoah to form New York Hakoah. ...

New York Giants (soccer)
New York Giants was a name used by three different New York City soccer teams. Two of these teams were associated with the New York Giants baseball franchise. The first team that used the name played in the American League of Professional Football in 1894. The second team played in the American Soccer League between 1923 and 1930 while the third team played in the same league between 1930 and 1932. The two Giants of the ASL were involved in a confusing name change. In 1930 after the original ASL Giants changed their name to New York Soccer Club, a rival team, the New York Nationals then changed their name to the Giants. One player, Davey Brown actually transferred from the original Giants to the Nationals, in effect moving from the Giants to the Giants. In 1931 the new Giants became ASL champions after beating New Bedford Whalers, a successor team of the original Giants, in a play-off.
