Sports Museum Of America
The Sports Museum of America (SmA) was the United States' first national sports museum dedicated to the history and cultural significance of Sports in the United States, sports in America. It opened in May 2008 and closed less than nine months later, in February 2009. History The museum was located at 26 Broadway, in Lower Manhattan across from Bowling Green (New York City), Bowling Green, close to the Statue of Liberty National Monument, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island ferry, the Whitehall Terminal of the Staten Island Ferry, Wall Street, and the World Trade Center (2001–present), World Trade Center. Billie Jean King
Billie Jean King (née Moffitt; born November 22, 1943) is an American former world No. 1 tennis player. King won 39 major titles: 12 in singles, 16 in women's doubles, and 11 in mixed doubles. King was a member of the victorious United States team in seven Federation Cups and nine Wightman Cups. For three years, she was the U.S. captain in the Federation Cup. King is an advocate of gender equality and has long been a pioneer for equality and social justice. LeRoy Neiman
LeRoy Neiman (born LeRoy Leslie Runquist, June 8, 1921 – June 20, 2012) was an American artist known for his brilliantly colored, expressionist paintings and screenprints of athletes, musicians, and sporting events.
