''Sports Geniuses'' is an American sports-themed game show that aired for 65 episodes from March 27, 2000, until June 23, 2000, on cable channel Fox Sports Net. It was the network's second game show (''Ultimate Fan League'' was the first, airing in 1998 and 1999, and only other). The advertising campaign for the show won a Clio Award. Sportscaster Matt Vasgersian hosted, with Lisa Guerrero as his co-host. Gameplay Three contestants played a sports trivia game for big prizes. Round 1 (1st Period) The first round was played similar to ''Jeopardy!'', with four categories each containing five questions that ranged in value from 10 to 50 points. Matt Vasgersian ( '; born 1967) is an American sportscaster and television host. Vasgersian is a play-by-play announcer for the Los Angeles Angels, as well as a studio host for MLB Network and Major League Baseball on Fox, FOX Sports. In the past, he has served as an announcer for Fox Sports' NFL on Fox, National Football League and Major League Baseball coverage, ESPN's coverage of Major League Baseball on ESPN, Major League Baseball, NBC Sports' coverage of the Olympics on NBC, Olympic Games, and NBC Sports' coverage of the original XFL (2001), XFL. Lisa Guerrero (born April 9, 1964) is an American journalist, actress, former sportscaster, artist, and model. Since 2006, Guerrero has been an investigative correspondent for the nationally syndicated newsmagazine ''Inside Edition''. Early years Guerrero was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Walter Coles, an American of English descent, and Lucy Guerrero, who was from Chile. Guerrero spent her childhood living in San Diego, California, and Huntington Beach, California. In 1972, when she was aged eight, her mother died of lymphoma cancer. Fox Sports Networks (FSN), formerly known as Fox Sports Net, was the collective name for a group of regional sports channels in the United States. Formed in 1996 by News Corporation, the networks were acquired by The Walt Disney Company on March 20, 2019, following its acquisition of 21st Century Fox. A condition of that acquisition imposed by the U.S. Department of Justice required Disney to sell the regional networks by June 18, 2019, 90 days after the completion of its acquisition. Disney subsequently agreed to sell the networks (excluding the YES Network, being reacquired by Yankee Global Enterprises) to Sinclair; the transaction was completed on August 22, 2019. Sal Iacono
Sal Iacono (born July 5, 1971), also known as Cousin Sal, is an American comedian, writer, and game show host. He is known for his roles on ''The Man Show'' and the late night television show ''Jimmy Kimmel Live!''. He is Jimmy Kimmel's cousin, hence his nickname Cousin Sal. Early life Iacono was born in Brooklyn to Fran Iacono and Vincent Iacono. He graduated from Elwood-John Glenn High School in 1989 and attended SUNY Oswego, earning a degree in Public Justice in 1993.
