Spooner's Patch
''Spooners Patch'' is a British television sitcom, written by Ray Galton (best known for his writing collaborations with Alan Simpson, including ''Steptoe and Son'') and Johnny Speight (best known for ''Till Death Us Do Part''). It ran for 3 series and 19 episodes and was made and broadcast from 1979 to 1982 on the ITV network, by ATV. Plot It is set in a police station in the fictional London suburb of Woodley. The title character of Spooner ( Ronald Fraser, then Donald Churchill) is the inspector in charge who is engaged in various corrupt ventures and lives above the station. The other main characters are the officers who work under him, including a detective played by Peter Cleall who thinks he is from Starsky & Hutch and drives around in a Ford Anglia in the same red and white colour scheme as their Ford Torino. Ray Galton
Raymond Percy Galton (17 July 1930 – 5 October 2018) was an English radio and television scriptwriter, best known for the Galton and Simpson comedy writing partnership with Alan Simpson. Together they devised and wrote 1950s and 60s BBC sitcoms including ''Hancock's Half Hour'' (1954–1961), the first two series' of ''Comedy Playhouse'' (1961–1963), and ''Steptoe and Son'' (1962–1974). Early life Galton was born in Paddington, West London, and after leaving school he worked for the Transport and General Workers Union. He contracted tuberculosis aged 18 in 1948 and was admitted to Milford Sanatorium near Godalming in Surrey, where he met fellow patient Alan Simpson. Barrie Rutter
Barrie Thomas Rutter OBE (born 12 December 1946) is an English actor and the founder and former artistic director of the Northern Broadsides theatre company based in Dean Clough complex, Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. Biography Rutter was born and brought up in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England, attending Newton Hall, part of Greatfield High School. He participated in school plays, joining the National Youth Theatre and at the age of 17 in 1964, he left Hull to live with his aunt in Kennington, London. He later studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, but left early before finishing the course to go on a European tour with the NYT. Ballard Berkeley
Ballard Blascheck (6 August 1904 – 16 January 1988), known professionally as Ballard Berkeley, was an English actor of stage and screen. He is best remembered for playing Major Gowen in the British television sitcom ''Fawlty Towers''. Life and career The son of Joseph and Beatrice Blascheck, he was born in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Roy Senior Barraclough (12 July 1935 – 1 June 2017) was an English comic actor. He was best known for his role as Alec Gilroy, the devious, mournful landlord of the Rovers Return in the long-running British TV soap '' Coronation Street'', and for the double-act Cissie and Ada with comedian Les Dawson. Donald Morley
Donald Jude Morley (7 October 1930 – 23 June 2006) was a British race car driver from Suffolk who specialized in rally driving. Career He won twice the Coupe des Alpes (Alpine Rally) in France, in 1961 and 1962, driving an Austin-Healey 3000, and was co-driven by Earle Morley, his identical twin brother. In doing so, he became the first British driver to win the race in more than 10 years. Donald also came onto the podium in the RAC Rally in 1960. In 1966 he married Valerie Domleo, also a rally driver who co-drove for popular female drivers of the decade such as Pauline Mayman and Rosemary Smith. John Clegg (actor)
John Walter Lawrence Clegg (born 9 July 1934) is an Indian-born English actor, best known for playing the part of Gunner 'Paderewski' Graham in the BBC sitcom ''It Ain't Half Hot Mum''. Early life and career Clegg was born on 9 July 1934 in Murree, British India (present-day Pakistan) to English parents. When he and his parents arrived back in England, Clegg became a student at RADA.
