Spooky Spooktown
''Spooky Spooktown'' was an American comic book series, published by Harvey Comics. The series ran from September 1961 to December 1976; in all, 66 issues were published. ''Spooky Spooktown'' featured stories from Harvey Comics' stable of characters, featuring Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost. Other Harvey characters that appeared included Casper the Friendly Ghost, The Ghostly Trio, and Wendy the Good Little Witch. The series started as a one-shot in 1961. It became a regular title in 1962, published quarterly. By the end of the 1960s, it was published bi-monthly, a frequency which prevailed for most of its remaining run. ''Spooky Spooktown'' was published as a "Giant-Size" 68-page comic until issue #39 (April 1971), then a 52-page "Giant-Size" from issue #40 (August 1971) to #45 (September 1972). Harvey Comics
Harvey Comics (also known as Harvey World Famous Comics, Harvey Publications, Harvey Comics Entertainment, Harvey Hits, Harvey Illustrated Humor, and Harvey Picture Magazines) was an American comic book publisher, founded in New York City by Alfred Harvey in 1941, after buying out the small publisher Brookwood Publications. His brothers, Robert B. and Leon Harvey, joined shortly after. The company soon got into licensed characters, which by the 1950s, became the bulk of their output. The artist Warren Kremer is closely associated with the publisher. Harvey Comics' most notable characters are Casper the Friendly Ghost and Richie Rich (character), Richie Rich. Harvey's mascot is named Joker, a harlequin jack-in-the-box character. Spooky The Tuff Little Ghost
Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost is a fictional character that appeared in titles published by Harvey Comics. Spooky first appeared in ''Casper the Friendly Ghost'' #10 (June 1953). He is Casper's cousin, although their exact relation is never specified. He generally resembles Casper except he has freckles, a derby hat, and a large, black nose. Overview Spooky is written with a Brooklyn accent, for example calling his girlfriend and fellow ghost Pearl, "Poil." His iconic derby hat is, therefore, a "doiby." Casper The Friendly Ghost
Casper the Friendly Ghost is the protagonist of the Famous Studios theatrical animated cartoon series of the same name. He is a pleasant, personable and translucent ghost, but often criticized by his three wicked uncles, the Ghostly Trio. The character was featured in 55 theatrical cartoons titled ''The Friendly Ghost'' from 1945 to 1959. The Ghostly Trio
The Ghostly Trio (consisting of Stretch, Fatso, and Stinkie, formerly Fatso, Fusso, and Lazo) are fictional characters appearing in Harvey Comics. They are well known for being the uncles of Casper the Friendly Ghost. Their first animated appearance was in ''The Friendly Ghost'', a cartoon of Paramount Pictures' Famous Studios theatrical series from the 1940s. When ''Casper'' was translated to Harvey Comics, the characters were redesigned to make them more mischievous than terror-inspiring. Wendy The Good Little Witch
Wendy the Good Little Witch is a fictional comic book character from Harvey Comics. Like Casper the Friendly Ghost and Hot Stuff the Little Devil, Wendy is an opposite-type character, a girl witch who does good deeds. Publication history Wendy was introduced as a back-up feature as well as a companion for Casper in ''Casper the Friendly Ghost'' #20, May 1954. Casper met and befriended her after stopping a major battle between the witches and ghosts. Soon, she was trialed in ''Harvey Hits'', starting with #7.
