Spokane City Hall Building
The Spokane City Hall Building is a historic building in Spokane, Washington. It was designed by German-born architect Julius Zittel, and built in 1912. With It was used as Spokane's city hall until 1982, when it was replaced with new offices in a former Montgomery Ward department store. Spokane ( ) is the largest city and county seat of Spokane County, Washington, United States. It is in eastern Washington, along the Spokane River, adjacent to the Selkirk Mountains, and west of the Rocky Mountain foothills, south of the Canada–United States border, Canadian border, west of the Washington–Idaho border, and east of Seattle, along Interstate 90 in Washington, I-90. Julius Zittel
Julius Zittel (October 2, 1869 - May 7, 1939) was an architect in Washington State. He was a draftsman at Herman Preusse firm and then became a partner at their firm. He became Washington's state architect. Spokane Chronicle
The ''Spokane Daily Chronicle'' is a daily digital newspaper in Spokane, Washington. It was founded as a weekly paper in 1881 and grew into an afternoon daily, competing with ''The Spokesman-Review'', which was formed from the merger of two competing papers. In 1897, the ''Chronicle'' was acquired by William H. Cowles and became part of the Cowles Publishing Company. Cowles already owned ''The Spokesman-Review''. Both papers operated out of the Spokesman-Review Building until 1921, but were kept independent; ''The Spokesman-Review'' had a Republican political slant, and the two papers maintained a friendly rivalry. The ''Chronicle'' moved into its own building next door in 1921. The following year the ''Chronicle'' started radio station KOE, setting up an antenna on the taller ''Review'' building.
